Grrr. Sugar cravings are really tough....is there anything I can do to curb it in the first week? Aside from buying food....I don't exactly have food at my place at the moment. Will be going shopping in the morning!
Have you tried chewing gum?
I can't really chew gum....after a period of chewing gum, my jaw is really sore. I think I might be developing TMJ, so I've avoided gum for a long while. =(
well, according to one web site i looked up, cravings for sweets could mean a deficiency in the following nutrients. Included are some foods high in those nutrients.
Also try to eat low refined carbs.
Chromium: Broccoli, grapes, cheese, dried beans, calves liver, chicken
Carbon: Fresh fruits
Phosphorus: Chicken, beef, liver, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, nuts, legumes, grains
Sulfur: Cranberries, horseradish, cruciferous vegetables, kale, cabbage
Tryptophan: Cheese, liver, lamb, raisins, sweet potato, spinach
I let myself have one small square of dark chocolate when I need something sweet. I take small bites ans let it slowly melt in my mouth. For some reason I can eat a small bit without having to consume more.
Also, try brushing your teeth. I find if I brush my teeth the cravings diminish.
These help with my cravings. Olives, Grapefruit, carb cravings I go to a high fiber all bran cereal. The bran is the only kind of grain I can tolerate. I also drink a fair amount of tea.
