Sugar cravings

  • Grrr. Sugar cravings are really tough....is there anything I can do to curb it in the first week? Aside from buying food....I don't exactly have food at my place at the moment. Will be going shopping in the morning!

  • I can't really chew gum....after a period of chewing gum, my jaw is really sore. I think I might be developing TMJ, so I've avoided gum for a long while. =(
  • well, according to one web site i looked up, cravings for sweets could mean a deficiency in the following nutrients. Included are some foods high in those nutrients.
    Also try to eat low refined carbs.


    Chromium: Broccoli, grapes, cheese, dried beans, calves liver, chicken

    Carbon: Fresh fruits

    Phosphorus: Chicken, beef, liver, poultry, fish, eggs, dairy, nuts,legumes, grains

    Sulfur: Cranberries, horseradish, cruciferous vegetables, kale, cabbage

    Tryptophan: Cheese, liver, lamb, raisins, sweet potato, spinach
  • I let myself have one small square of dark chocolate when I need something sweet. I take small bites ans let it slowly melt in my mouth. For some reason I can eat a small bit without having to consume more.
    Also, try brushing your teeth. I find if I brush my teeth the cravings diminish.
  • These help with my cravings. Olives, Grapefruit, carb cravings I go to a high fiber all bran cereal. The bran is the only kind of grain I can tolerate. I also drink a fair amount of tea.
