Jicama

  • Does anyone know where Jicama is commonly sold? I live in the Maryland area, if that helps.
  • You can get Jicama in any higher end grocers. But our shoprite sells it (I live in S. Jersey) so you can get it in an area that caters to clientel who regularly purchases it?

Perhaps you would have better luck near a city?
  • Jicama at Whole Foods
Yesterday I bought my first ever Jicama at Whole Foods, about the size of a tennis ball for $0.84. I had to have a produce clerk show me what one was - had no clue whatsoever. DW put some raw, thin slices on our salad. It had a nice crunchy apple-like taste.

So, can I ask, how do you come to be interested in Jicama? What are you going to do with it?

Completed Beck Program-day 42. You’ve met your goal. Congratulations!
  • Someone on this site said that they slice it and then bake it, as a substitute for chips to dip in salsa
