Why Coffee?

How come every natural "detox" plan I read tells me to avoid coffee? Anyone have the logic?

Imo

I think because most coffee including decaffeinated has a lot of chemicals in it due to how they process it.

I am not sure about coffee beans and you grinding your own though. I think a lot of the coffee is treated chemically as it goes through harvesting too. I might be wrong but everything else is so why not coffee too?

I would check out a health food store or organic grocer and ask them if they have any recommendations. Like all the other things you can now purchase I would think some coffee producers/growers would have jumped on this bandwagon as well and started producing healthier versions.

Another reason might be is that coffee is a natural diuretic and it might also flush out some important electrolytes along with the bad stuff that you are trying to detox with. Also, maybe it has something to do with your internal organs and how they process coffee. ;)

Well caffeine is a drug and I've heard that caffeine can interfere with some of the bodies functions and often caffeine cravings are misinterpreted for hunger.

I quit caffeine a month ago (tea though not coffee). The first week was horrid but after that, I actually think I feel better. I try to avoid decaf tea although it is easier to decaffeinate tea I believe (no chemicals needed).

Coffee can be decaffeinated with water process - just check the label, and regular coffee is not normally processed with any chemicals anyway - so it's not a toxic product. And once the green bean is roasted, any residual chemicals (if there were any) are going to be burned away. Roasting is done at over 500 degrees!

They pretty much just want you to avoid the caffeine.
