New to LAWL

Well today is my official first day on program!!! Ya for me...
I know I am going to find the first few weeks very challenging as LAWL is a restrictive eating plan but it is definately what I need. Most of the foods that I thought were healthy and good for me hence are not on the program so my first goal is to get through the first week!! I am sure the numbers at the end of the week will prove to me that this was the best choice of my life.!!
Came across these boards and found them very informative, thanks ahead of time for all you wealth of information provided!!

Welcome, and congrats on your decision to take the plunge! I know what you mean; there are plenty of foods I thought were healthy, only to find out that they aren't allowed or are extremely limited. It just goes to show how misinformed most people are about nutrition, and just how much there is to learn! My sister called me up the other day to tell me that she was going to stop drinking pop and just drink juice from now on. I congratuated her on the pop, but I had to break the news to her that, aside from the lack of caffeine, she'd might as well be drinking the pop! And she LOOOOVES Subway subs, and of course they MUST be healthy since Jared says so. Never mind the high carbs (and fat, depending on the sauce!). She was pretty mad at me for that one.

In any case, look at it this way. Those "bad" foods will be allowed again eventually. Right now they're forcing you to end those old habits and turn off your cravings for them. During maintenance, they'll teach you how to choose those bad foods carefully without going overboard. They'll be back, and by then you'll know how to eat them without gaining!

Again, welcome to both the program and the boards, and best of luck achieving all of your weight loss goals :D

Best of Luck and Congrats on your decision. It's a GREAT plan and you will see and feel the differencealmost immediately. Okay--there may be a caffeine/sugar WD headache--but overall I felt great getting all the crud out. More energy and less need for sleep are always a bonus with kids! As a nurse we sure don't have to tell you what a great decision you have made for yourself.

Sarah.. Suggest to your sis that she try V8 Fusion Lite... It has the benefits of a full veggie serving (2 for LAWL standards!) and a full fruit.. Plus, it's MUCH lower in calories than normal juice.... I HATE HATE HATE regular V8, but this stuff tastes really good! If she insists on sticking with the fruit juice, tell her to stick with juice that's NOT from concentrate...

Welcome SmilinNurse! Glad your here!

Welcome Smilin Nurse. I am pretty new to LAWL myself. Just completed my first week. Since I am quite a bit overweight, I find the food is more than enough. As we taper down, so will the amounts we can eat, but it seems doable to me thus far.

Congrats on starting your new way of living.

Diane
