Color Codes of diet
 
I am new to LAWL, just signed up a few days ago. I've seen references to Purple, Red, Gold and are wondering what they refer to. My book is blue. Thank you!:^:

Welcome JenniKyle-
You are right, the color plan goes by the color of the plan book you have.
The color plans are based on your weight, exercise regimen, medical conditions and work schedule mainly. Blue is mainly for shift workers or people with long hour days our weird work schedules. As you go down in weight, you may drop down a plan depending on your needs. The difference between the plans are the food portions that you are allowed.

They are the different plans based on your weight, your goal weight and your activity level. Blue is usually for people who are in school or have long days like shift workers, or who exercise more than 5hr/week who would otherwise be on gold, which starts around 180ish (at least according to my COD). You get an extra starch on blue, compared to gold, and something else. I know someone else will chime in.

JK - I started on blue because I work 4 / 10 hr days. I just switched to Gold which is 1 S and 1/2 P less than blue and I was in a funk......

Christine,

I started on Gold at 188.5. I didn't think it was a lot to eat at first, but it is doable now. I have been losing very slow, but it's better than gaining. I need to start an exercise regimen to get the last 20 lbs. off though, as I've been stuck for several months now. Keep going back and forth, losing and gaining same few pounds.

I'm on purple now but made a plan today to move to gold in 7 more lbs. Will I be losing a starch when I move to gold? I think I'll lose my mind if I lose a starch!!! lol

One really great thing (I think) is if you exercise 5+ hours/week you move to Blue which is 1 more starch and a half protein (at least at my COD). Of course--I got lazy so I had to go back to gold. Also--I was put on Gold at 188 when I started. Weird how the centers have different set points for determining color.

I'm at 184 at WI this morning, started on Purple and nobody has said a word to me about changing plans at different weights.

I am on purple. I started on red and moved down to purple. My counselor said I may be in for a change to either gold or blue. I am only going to be working out 3 times a week so I bet it will be the gold. I couldn't handle losing another starch either. How could I have my sandwiches?

I was messing around on the LAWL site seeing what the exchanges are for other plans and Red 2 has 5 starches!! I seriously salavated lol.

Don't worry Liz, Gold is 2 S also!

I started at 200.2 and was put on purple w/ lites. I was told by one counselor that when I hit 187, I'd move to Gold. But then I hit a little plateau at about 191, and the manager said that since I was within 5 pounds of my "move-weight", that she'd just move me to Gold now. (which was last week.)

Kim, I'd ask your COD about when they're planning to move you to another book. It's possible that they've put you down for a different move-weight, or that they've just spaced on it entirely.

Lizzy & Kim--do you do the lites? I can see if you are on Purple food only or Gold with lites--just my thoughts.

I started at 193 on Purple w/lites. When I got to 179 is when they moved me to Gold. Been on Gold since. But my personal feeling is the the whole weighloss thing have slowed down on me. I blame it on the Gold Plan, but it could be very much my body getting used to less food, and not dumping the weight like it used to.

I have to just say, goodjob! I just joined and I was the same weight as you. I am in the first week, and have lost 4.6#. I hope to be at your level soon. Thanks for the inspiration, it must work.

I'm actually on plain Red. I get the 2 lites, 3 starches, 2 1/2 proteins, 3 fruits, and 4 veggies a day. I also am the extremely active type who works out almost daily. The only down side with Red is that doing TO basically has no effect since the body really thinks it's starving itself. (One protein is usually 6 ounces cooked!)

Despite a month slump I was told unless I fully quit working out I would not be moved to a lower plan. What's the break down on the other plans? I think I might start illegaly switching plans one or two days a week to shock my body!

Nancy--I think your body is just adjusting to your almost 30 pound loss--it has to play catch-up, plus--the less you weigh the less you will lose each week (IMO).

Hello, my name is Loretta and i live in NC and i started the lawl jan 3, i have had good luck so far, i have started on the red, they tell me when i loose another 6 or so pounds i will move to the purple.

Lea Ann - Thanks for reminding me that. As long as each and every 0.4 and 0.6 that I lose every week will stay 'lost' then, eventaully, I will reach the goal!
