Changing your workout routine occasionally is highly encouraged. I used to lift weights quite a bit, and that was one of the things I learned. Your body gets used to the same exercises...you have to "surprise" your body with something unexpected. I'm pretty sure this applies to exercises other than weightlifting.
As for breakfast, I seen a diatician several years ago and she preached to me to make sure I ate my breakfast simply because eating your breakfast "jump starts" your metabolism. If you skip it, you'll defer the calorie burning you strive for.
As well, a few years ago I had my greatest success at slimming down by starting a pretty good exercise routine. Basically, I'd do around 20 minutes of cardio (with 3-5 minutes of warm up and cool down) followed by moderate weight lifting/strength training. The reason I did it this way, was because the 20 minutes of cardio would get me to that "fat burning" phase of my routine and by immediately hitting the weights, the fat burning phase would continue. I know a lot of women get intimidated by the thought of lifting weights, but it's not that bad. You can lift without bulking up and having veins popping out! lol Another plus side to lifting weights is the fact that increasing your muscle mass will actually increase your metabolism. Muscle burns calories, fat doesn't. I guess the downside is that perhaps when you hit the scales you may not notice a great loss simply because you are gaining muscle mass...I'm sure the amount gained won't be that great for ladies...unless you take performance enhancing drugs. The best sign would be the fit of your clothing.
Anyway, that's my input...if anyone has any questions about routines, etc. just let me know...I've been lifting weights off and on (more off lately) for about 18 years...since I was 16 or so.
