2006 Celebration Inventory

(posted in an earlier thread)
There was a great article in Ladies Home Journal this month that talks about how tough it is to stick to New Year's goals. So, instead of giving yourself a bunch of guilt ridden new year's resolutions", they suggest starting the new year with a "celebration inventory" to validate the successes of the past year. Honor all those times you went to the gym; congratulate yourself for how well you did something (a 5K, finishing a class, etc.).

So, Joni's 2006 Celebration Inventory is as follows:
  • Dropped 20 lbs....woo hoo!!!
  • Found some great friends in cyberspace who have shared their wisdom and inspired me
  • Ran (vs walked) my first 5K
  • Built up my savings account so I have a comfortable emergency fund
  • Had a legal will drawn up...finally
  • Completed two volunteer projects (one for work and one for a needy family at Christmas

Whew, this might be hard for me...I don't often take the time to look back and see what I've done. But it'll be good to do this!

In 2006, I...
1. Joined LAWL and am DOING it!! :D I feel committed!!
2. Helped get a new Renaissace Festival started by playing the part of a shepherdess (and I learned a lot about sheep, hah!)
3. Learned how to ride a motorcycle! :bike:
4. Changed jobs = more (much needed) money!
5. Spent a month with my DB's DD...it's a challenge playing mom to someone else's preteen, but it was well worth it.
6. Got a new dog and quickly re-learned what living with a dog means (hee).
7. Learned not to get so psycho about the kids' rooms being clean...once a week is fine.
8. Discovered (as I've been on LAWL) just how good real food tastes. (isn't that WEIRD when you make that discovery? hah!)
9. Became good friends with some people I'd always admired but never got close to before. (Good Christian couple...we needed people like that to hang out with.)
10. Got accepted to Grad school! Yes! I start Jan 29th!

Wow, well, for someone who thought she'd have a tough time of it, I sure found a lot. It's funny how quickly life speeds by...I should make this list more often. :)

What a great thread Joni! Congrats to all of you and your astonishing accomplishments!

My 2006 Celebration Inventory includes:

1. Lost 69 lbs. Yippee!
2. Joined LAWL in October and committed myself to actually reach my goal weight in order to finally be "on mission for God" and to be healthy for myself and my children.
3. My husband and I made the committment and sacrafice for him to go on a two week mission trip to the Philippines.
4. Completed my 3rd year as a race track photographer and improved sales/photo quality. (And didn't get hit by any race cars!)
5. Started teaching Sunday School and have really grown to love it.

Wow! Thank you for having us stop and take this inventory. It really helped!

I read this thread a few days ago, and I am going to take the time to really think about this and post it.......this is such a great idea, Joni. How often do we take the time to reflect and realize that we do actually accomplish some things sometimes :)

1. Managed (with God's help) to keep 5 kids alive, healthy, and happy!!!!!!!
2. QUIT SMOKING--since Memorial Day.....whoohooo!!!
3. Joined LAWL--lost 25 pounds
4. Found this fabulous, wonderful website and made some awesome new friends. This has really meant a lot to me, as I am still a bit unsettled in my new state and community.
5. Really focused on becomming more efficient and organized in my job (managing my crazy busy household), and reaped the benefits of knowing where things are, cuz they finally have a place.
6. Perfected my caramel recipe....maybe not such a great accomplishment :)

Well, that's all I can think of tonight....I just know I will think of something when I get settled into bed, and I will be all mad cuz it will be something really important to me. Yet, I won't get out of bed and fire my computer up...LOL. Talk to you all in the a.m. :)
