May Challenge

As requested, here is my new challenge I came up with. Please let me know if anybody has any changes they would like to make. This challenge is for everybody so if you have changes you think should be made or added, please let me know, so I can update this challenge.

Challenge starts now for the entire month of May! Everyone is responsible for adding up their points and at the end of May, you can all email me your points, and I will post the results. It will be easier this way to ensure I do not miss anyone.

Good luck everyone!

Here's the challenge rules:
1. Drink 8 glasses of water a day. (Add 1 point for each single day if you meet your quota.)

2. Eat healthy meals and snacks within the range of calories Jorge
recommends for a 2 pounds weight loss or your own program of course.
(Add 1 point every day if you meet this goal)

3. Focus on eating foods low in fat and lots of veggies.
(Add 1 point every day if you meet this goal)

4. Work out at least 3 times this week with a minimum of 20 minutes
of cardio.
(Add 1 point if you meet this goal)

5. If you have difficulty with your emotional hunger, journal your
thoughts and feelings and focus on developing alternate reactions to
emotions instead of eating.
(This is more of a personal thing, so no points here)

6. Post a reply to this post at least twice this week stating how
you're keeping up with this challenge.
(Add 1 point if you meet this goal)

7. Believe in your abilities to reach your weight loss goals.
8. Commit to being prepared each single day this week. Be prepared
for every single day. Plan what you'll be eating every day, plan
when and where you exercise.

Let's not forget about the Challenge Results:
1. Add 2 points for each pound you lose, add 1 point if you maintain and -2 for each pound gained.
I think it's just as difficult to maintain your weight as it is to lose it, so I think we should be rewarded as well for maintaining our weight.

Awesome challenge Francine!!! I'm sooooo in!! :D I'll print out your post so I can keep track of things. Thanks!!!!

I like this idea Francine...I am going to try and keep up with this. We are to keep track of all this every day? Im with Kathy and will have to print this out to keep up! Thanks alot!

Fonty 05-02-2006 05:16 PM

Okay here I go! I printed it out and I am ready to start. I am going to have a salad for dinner and I have the water in and I walked for 16 minutes this morning and will do something else for 5.

flemay 05-03-2006 08:32 AM

The reason why I decided to track for every day, is because water for me is a big challenge. I want to make sure I work hard every single day to meet my quota and earn 1 point. For some people, this will be an easy point, for others like me, not easy.

But I got my point for water intake yesterday! I was always in the washroom every half hours. It drove me nuts. I couldn't even get home without having to go to the washroom at my daughter's school. But it's good. My body needs water. I hope this gets better though. Having to go every half hour could be trouble during meetings...

So I know it's a lot more to keep track of, but I think it may be what I need to keep me fully motivated for this challenge.

Fonty 05-03-2006 10:20 AM

I personally think that the every day type challenge is much more motivating and encourages the 21 day habit idea. Often when a point is either earned or lost within a week time frame one may mess up on the first day and no longer be encouraged to continue since they have already lost that point. So I am very happy to be earning daily points or at least the chance to. I think that this will be a great month of success for all of us.
Thanks

Okay I'm in!!! :) This will certainly be a challenge, but that's what it's all about - to challenge myself to stay motivated and to get my body healthy!! Because with healthy body comes a healthy spirit!!! oooh I like that!! hahaha!

Fonty 05-03-2006 10:48 AM

So true so very true

Ladies, I've been thinking about this challenge.

What would you say if we sum up the results each week?. A month is too long for a challenge, but if at the end of each week, we count our points and announce this week's winner, it will be faster and more fun! Getting more results quickly.

As well, it will give a chance for others to join the challenge when they are available. This way, for example, if someone is on vacation for a week or two, when they come back, they can start week 3 of the challenge with us.

Does that sound okay? So this week's challenge will finish this saturday (including the day) so let's check our weight on Sunday morning and send me your points total. I will post the results and this week's lucky winner!

And let's continue on Sunday for Week2 of the May challenge. It will be easier to count Sunday to Saturday as a week. So we'll be short for 1 or 2 days for this week. But this will be our first try at it to get used to it and to fine tune the challenge.

If anyone is interested, next week, we could add one more goal for reaching 10 000 steps a day/1 point each day if everyone has a pedometer. But only if everyone has one. Not fair to add a goal if someone can't make it.

If you come up with anything, let me know, and we can add more goals to work on each week! Lots of fun, and a chance to earn lots of points! :)

Let's do this ladies! We can!:carrot: :carrot:

I like the idea of weekly instead of monthly -- I can't remember a whole month at a time.

Fonty 05-03-2006 12:11 PM

Sounds good

Catsgetnhealthy 05-03-2006 04:00 PM

Hi
Weekly sounds good to me. :)
Francine once your body gets use to the amount of water you're drinking the bathroom breaks will become farther apart.
I wear my pedometer everyday, have since the other challenge a while back. So I already keep track of my steps. :running:

flemay 05-04-2006 08:41 AM

Good. If everyone has a pedo, we'll add the 10 000steps a day to next week's challenge starting this Sunday.

Well, here is my mid week check in for the challenge. I've been doing very good. The water is going in. I'm eating healthy and exercising. Making low fat choices and getting all my veggies in.

I'm not feeling very good today. My time of the month has arrived. I'm still going to try to fit in a 15 minutes walk this morning. Not a fast one but better then none at all. I find that staying in shape helps during this time.

Have a nice day everyone!

Syldervan 05-04-2006 09:35 AM

Oh I like this, I am so motivated this morning, I feel so good and thanks for the challenge sis. We are going to look so good this summer, Usually I fail on the 3 rd week, but not this time, This time I am the winner all and all the way, I just printed the callenge and damm it looks good..

Catsgetnhealthy 05-04-2006 10:42 AM

mid week check in

Morning all~
I'm doing really good this week. I've completed the workouts I've planned so far. I'm really loving the Biggest Loser workout. It goes really well with my WATP workouts. I'm really watching my eating this week as I quit smoking Sunday. I'm chewing the gum which helps, but I've caught myself roaming the kitchen. I'm keeping myself busy with finishing some cross stitch projects that I need to have done by mid June.
Francine~ I hope you feel better soon. TTOTM is such a PITA
Have a fantastic day ladies! :grouphug: I'll check in later.
