Freaking Out In Tennessee

  • OK I am officially freaking out. The weather here is scaring me to death. We have had tornados all day in TN and they even let my work and schools out early today. So far there have been 9 fatalities and I'm afraid that there will be more. It is just me and the kids tonite and we have our emergency kit together and our safe place designated. Earlier we had golf ball size hail and now thunderstorm after thunderstorm. I also just had 3 pieces of pizza and a little debbie cake. What the h&ll!!!!! Whoa..... Ok I will try to get a grip, my kids are on edge and even the dog is wigging out. Please be thinking of the families in TN that have suffered losses today and pray for a safe night.
  • Rhonda - I'm thinking of you and I'll say a prayer that you and your family are safe. I'm on a business trip in Maryland and it's thunderstorming here too -- but I missed the snow in Denver this morning!
  • Thank you for your prayers. I really shouldn't even be on the computer and I am glued to the television which has had the weather report on since 12 pm today.
  • You and your family (all of Tenn.) are in my prayers. Trust me I know how you are feeling from the hurricanes down here. It is so scary, my dog went nuts, we got him some herbal med to help keep him calm. We have had 3 hurricanes give us direct hits in the last 2 years......no fun.

Stay near your safe room ... Check in here in the morning so we know your all OK.

  • You are in prayers.
  • Saying prayers for you all in TN... be safe!
  • Hello... I am SO glad I found this message before I go to bed! Please know that I am praying for you and your family, and everyone in Tennessee! I grew up in Missouri so know just how frightening and dangerous those things can be!!
  • Hope everything went ok last night Rhonda and that the storms didn't get too bad. They were saying the storms were suppose to come here last night but they didn't but it sure does look nasty out there right now!
  • Thank you for your Prayers!
Well we made it through with minimal damage, mostly damage from hail and from high winds. There are a few cities in TN that were not as lucky. Thank you all for thinking of us!
  • Oh Rhonda, so good to hear you are okay! Praise God you made it through safely! I did pray!
  • Glad to know you're okay. Personally, I have no clue what tornados are like. I'm from Canada, and there was a small one close by a few years ago, but not as devastating as the ones going through the States every year.
  • Thank you all for your prayers. Unfortunately for many they were not as lucky. TN has been hit 2 weeks in a row with these storms resulting in 28 deaths. The stories are so sad and you think that it won't happen to you. Well tornadoes are non-discriminating and very destructive. They don't care if you live in a trailer or a multi-million dollar house, the effects are often the same: total destruction. Not only that, the house next to you may be totally destroyed while yours suffers minor damage. We have a county in TN that is out of school this week and a college that can not return until maybe next week. The calm before the storm is always erie with a feeling of something is not right. We were removing things and batting down the hatches outside when I realized how humid, hot, and how still the air was outside. Within 30 minutes the hail came down. It sounded like hundreds of hammers beating on the house and the yard was full of ice. There were no broken windows on our house, but the roof may need some work. Again thank you all for just being there.
  • Rhonda,

I am SO sorry for your neighbors in TN, but VERY happy that you suffered minimum damages. I was REALLY happy to hear that you and yours are OK.
