Things that go scratch, scratch, scratch in the night...
Just a little midnight humor/terror to share with you all...
Well it's been a very unnerving evening at my house. While sitting here, doing some work, enjoying the peaceful spring evening I heard a little, muffled "scratch, scratch, scratch". For a few minutes I thought it was probably a tree outside. Then again...scratchscratch....SCRATCHSCRATCH! I followed the noise over to my fireplace (which has built in shelving) and stood silent for a few moments (more as a reaction of terror, than a master plan to isolate the source of the noise). And then again "SCRATCHSCRATCH". At that point I was fully expecting something horrendous (and probably rabid, or at least quick and scurry-like enough to make me scream at defcon 5 level) to come flying out of my fireplace and attack me, but nothing. By the time I got the flashlight and returned the noise had stopped. I've now (foolishly!) put a laundry basket over the shelving (after a thorough inspection of every cranny with the flashlight). I don't know what good that will do, but it makes me feel a little better......but not well enough to sleep peacefully! All I know is that things that go "scratch, scratch, scratch in the wall at midnight" are probably not the type of roommates I'm looking for.......:fr: |
Uh oh. I hope your new "roomate" is harmless. I'm like you, I have a very overactive imagination and I know I wouldn't be sleeping well either. It still freaks me out when my cats start staring out into the living room as if something's out there, even though I know they do it every night and no creature has attacked me in my sleep yet (crossing my fingers) ;) Let us know if you catch anything!

I had that happen once. I figured I had a mouse, so I got a cat. A few days later, I saw the cat chasing a hamster across the living room! The hamster had been gone from her cage for weeks - I had forgotten about her. Then we had a cat and a hamster.

LOL! Oh I wouldnt have slept until I found out what it was. If it is a regular fire place it could have been a bat or a mouse. If it was in the daytime I would say maybe a bird. Good luck on finding your new room mate!

Melissa's mouse (by the way, where is Melissa?) must have moved to Alicante's house since Melissa locked up the M&Ms!

:o Maybe he developed a taste for Reese's Pieces ... I brought home a bag the same day he arrived! Luckily (or perhaps unfortunately for him) it seems my resident has moved out and/or died. There hasn't been any attempted prison-break since I taped up (not that tape will do much good against a mouse - more for my own peace of mind) the slats above the fireplace.

Did I hear that someone has a mouse? The mouse detective in on the way!! ;) Here is what you need to do. Buy a mouse trap glue pad, use your M&Ms (they love em), and some peanut butter. Do Not touch the sticky part!! Put a little bit of peanut butter on pad with an M&M on top and some around it. You will catch the little critter in no time. After that, it is up to my hubby to get rid of him. Let me know what happens.
