Frustrations in work area
This is so frustrating! The girls at work started doing chocolate fondues regularly. Originally, they were planning for more then once in a week! Lucky for me, a few people couldn't be here so the plans were changed. But there still planning this regularly. So this girl says she'll go to Price Club to buy a whole box of Aero's but she doesn't want to keep them in her office of course. So my co-worker says bring them here and you can sell them.
Oh! That did it! I got so frustrated! I didn't say anything of course, but keep the damn chocolate in your office, don't bring it here please! I don't know if she will, but I sure hope not! This is a work place and has to be shared with everybody. People who are not emotional eaters don't understand the problem this can cause people like myself! I can deal with not eating fondue by going for a walk after lunch and not be in the office since I'm planning on walking again. But dealing with a box of chocolate on the file cabinet outside my office is very frustrating. And I thought I was safer at work from emotional eating since there was no food to eat! Chocolate is my downfall! |
Chocolate is my downfall and my hubby told me just act like even though it is the best thing in the world, imagine that you will get the worst stomach cramps & boomers in the world if you eat it. I know that is nasty, sorry but it totally works. I just look at it and that is the 1st thing I think of now.

Oh gosh...what type of work do you do? When do you make the fondue??
Can't you tell them that you are trying to eat more healthy foods and don't want to be tempted by the yummy chocolate? Or, put it in a filing cabinet so you don't have to see it? Not sure what your office environment is like but I would definitely think of myself and try to do something to change what tempts you!!! |
I'm a computer programmer, so they do the fondue at lunch time. We work in a corner so we have a table to have lunch on right there just outside my office. So fondue right at my doorstep. If at least, I had an active job, I wouldn't worry about it! I could burn it! But sitting on my butt all day, working on a computer is not very active. LOL
I was so frustrated that I spoke with one of my coworkers which is closer. A friend really and told her how I felt. She just stopped smoking so chocolate right now would probably be the thing she'll turn to if it's there. So she understands how I feel! The girls bringing the chocolate is a friend of hers, so she said she would suggest to her to keep the chocolate in her office to prevent her for going for it! Unfortunately, we can't control what other people say. But I might have to say something. When people bring chocolate to raise money, that's one thing, but when they bring it just for the fun of it, that's quite something else. I sure hope she doesn't bring it. I don't like to explain myself much to other people you know. I know I'm an emotional eater, but not everybody understands what that really means I think. Or they like to eat that stuff, and they don't want to lose any weight, and are quite happy with what they look like which is great. But I want to get down to a healthy weight. I want to look hot one of these days. And I can't do that with chocolate around me every day. That's pure sabotaging for me! People just think automatically that I'm on a diet. I can't eat this and I can't eat that. But there is a difference with eating something once in a while and eating it every day. I view it as a lifestyle for eating healthy food all the time. Sugary snacks are not healthy and I don't want it in my life every day. But that doesn't mean I'm on a diet. To me, it means I've changed my lifestyle and get the chocolate bar once in a while! |
Can you suddenly develop an allergy to it and ask that it be moved? I mean technically you are allergic to it -- you eat it and it makes you gain weight so your body is having a negative reaction to it.

Francine,
Saying what we are feeling is an important part of losing weight. Sometimes we eat to "push down" our feelings. If we let them out, we don't need to push them down. If I were in your situation, I would tell everyone that I really need them to help me out with a health problem - being overweight is a health problem. I need to lose wt. and the chocolate being outside my office is a problem for me. Please move it elsewhere. I think they will understand - I would. Lynn |
Good news everybody!
My friend asked the lady in question to keep the chocolate in her office since we're working really hard to eating healthy. This is good! I'm glad I told her! I could have asked her myself but I don't know her that well. Makes it ackward! But the important thing is the chocolate will not be sitting next to me. They can still do their fondues if they wish, that doesn't bother me as much as the chocolate just sitting there. I may join them once in a while but not everyday. This morning, there's even a box of timbits on the table a co-worker brought. I haven't touched it. I had my yogurt and granola. I'm working really hard to making that April Challenge work. I want to lose 8 pounds in the next 4 weeks, and I can't do that by eating fondue or donuts. Have a nice day everyone! |
Good Job! Keep that strong will going and those 8lbs will easily come right off. Communication is always key. Because of your forsight all went well before it really became an issue. Give yourself a big pat on the back. You really deserve it!
