WW Article on Counting your steps

I read an article in the WW magazine yesterday about counting your steps.

Basically, we should try to walk 10 000 steps a day for the benefits of exercise.

For weight loss, we should be walking 15 000 steps. I had to work hard to make my 10 000 steps a day. Imagine 15 000.

They basically recommended if you walk 6 000 steps per day. Tomorrow aim, for a 10% increase. So on, the next day, to eventually get to 10 000.

They also showed you how to calculate your average steps per day which is how we're supposed to be counting it. After 7 days, we should be adding up the 7 numbers together and divide by 7 to give you the average steps per day for the week! I tought that was a bit much to be honnest with you. To me, making sure you get 10 000 steps every day is much simpler.

I intend on getting another pedometer soon, to get back to the challenge with the rest of you soon!

I need to get another one too, my other one I had to take back cause it kept resetting itself!

I bought that magazine just because I saw that on the cover. :) I think in the spring and summer it will be easier to increase up to 15,000. It's cold here and I just can't get into walking outside. That's why I love the watp tapes. I haven't done anything this morning as I'm not feeling good. :(

If you use the exercise multiplier, 15,000 shouldn't be that bad. We can do it!

Actually, I wear my pedometer when I exercise too, so the steps are counted automatically when I walk/jog or cycle. Unfortunately, to get it up to 15000 every day is difficult. I don't do cardio everyday. I would be too exausted!

I am still on the lookout for a new ped (going to Walgreens later) but when my other ped was working I put my small trampoline in frount of the t.v. in my bedroom and a few times a day I would get on and walk in place...it made a difference with my step count.
Just a thought....

pedometer question

Hi,
I have tried using a pedometer but find it does not track my everyday steps - housework, just walking in the house, etc. I am on my 3rd one so I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Also does anyone have any tips on achoring the pedometer so it does not get lost? Thanks
Sheridan
