Ok last summer some of you ladies may remember I got my natural dark brown hair highlighted, well I have decided to go back to my dark hair so I had it color back to dark brown cause I couldn't take my roots any longer!! Now, the problem is in order to color over the blond in it and to keep the blond from turning green I think they went a tad too dark, now my hair looks black! UGH! Please tell me it will lighten up eventually or do I have to wait for this to grow out for my natural color to come back??

Laurie...I use a reddish brown a couple of shades darker than my naturally dark brown hair (no highlights) to cover my greys. For about 2-3 days it seems very dark, then settles in. Like new towels.
You might want to give it a couple extra shampoo treatments. |
Will do! Thanks!

By the way....I don't know why....not sure if this is just me...
You know how dark hair gets hot (even to the touch) in the sun? Well, since I started coloring it to keep away the greys....it seems even hotter. Maybe, it is just hormones, but it seems worse the first 2-3 weeks after I color it. It may just be "in my head":?: . |
Laurie,
Also, if you had this done in a salon and it does not mellow out in a day or two then you can go back and they will fix it as a courtesy! or they should...they want their clients happy! |
If you wait for a few shampoos, it will lighten up on its own.

Its really not THAT bad, just darker (black) than I wanted so I will be washing it atleast twice a day for a few days! LOL!

If you change your make up, it will not seem that dark. I have to color my hair darker to cover the gray, too. Just going off what I remember from your picture, you may want to try a plum eyeshadow and similarly-toned lipstick or gloss. It WILL fade!
What did you use? |
