I am new and need some help !!

I recently joined your support group and I must say I am happy that I was refered to your website, I am following this new lifestyle(JOrge Cruise) with my sister and sister in law. We all managed to loose some weight, I have lost a total of 30 pounds, but I am struggling, I have thyorid problem and must take pills to keep my tsh up to normal level. I am to the correct level but I have been wondering if anyone on here could share their experience with me, I am hoping I can find someone who is having the same condition that I have..:smug:

Thanks in advance for your upcoming support,

Welcome to the group!

I don't know anything about thyroid issues and weight loss struggles. But we have lots of support here together.

thanks Susan, I must congratulate you on your weight loss, that is amazing , wow you lost 141 pounds, did you lose this with Jorge's lifestyle?

hockeyfan7 02-06-2006 09:49 PM

No, actually I didn't. I did Atkins for a while but I got bored with no carbs. Then I did Weight Watchers, but I didn't want to count points. I just started Jorge Cruise in October and have taken off 8 lbs with his program. Now I'm counting calories, eating every 3 hours and watching carbs -- so I guess I do a combo of all 3.

How are you doing so far?

Syldervan 02-07-2006 01:24 PM

:dizzy: Well not doing so well because of that thyorid problem, but I have found another forum that has been very helpful, they say to stay away from raw cabbage, cauliflower and brocolli, I have been having all those on a daily base..

I have re-commited to a 21 day challenge for fell through last night so started again today:dizzy:

I would be interested to know the logic behind not eating cauliflower, broccoli and raw cabbage. Also - I was under the impression your thyroid problem is being treated and that your levels are currently regulated. Or have I misunderstood?

Syldervan 02-07-2006 04:57 PM

It is under control but from other forums, people with hypo have told me that this foods must be avoided, I wish I understood the logic behind it as well, currently looking into that, I have found multiple links on the internet but not sure if it is reliable,,

Hmmm - interesting. I went diggining and found this:
Quote:

oods that depress thyroid activity are broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, cauliflower, kale, spinach, turnips, soy, beans, and mustard greens. These foods should be included in the diet for hyperthyroid conditions and avoided for hypothyroid conditions.
• Avoid refined foods, sugar, dairy products, wheat, caffeine, alcohol.
• Essential fatty acids are anti-inflammatory and necessary for hormone production. Take 1,000 to 1,500 mg flaxseed oil three times per day.
• Calcium (1,000 mg per day) and magnesium (200 to 600 mg per day) help many metabolic processes function correctly.
This is from a site called HealingDeva.

Thank you - I never knew that. I will be sure to share it with my Aunt.
