  • a thousand words. I'm working on an album of our family since Donald and I got married - August 2004. Amazing to see how he has deteriorated since then. At our wedding, he and I walked outside to greet our guests & he used just my arm to steady himself.

Just this summer, we vacationed at the Jersey Shore & he was able to use a walker. In October, we went to Mohegan Sun Casino & he was wheelchair bound. Now, I need a lift to get him out of the bed and into the wheelchair.

Although I want to keep photos of this period of our lives, it's kind of depressing. Sorry, I don't want to bum you out, but looking through the album really surprised me. Being with him every day, I don't realize how quickly he is losing his abilities. The album made it dramatically clear.
  • What a wonderful realization with that... It's bittersweet in that you don't see the negative and clearly as the positive. I hope I can find that in a relationship!
  • That is one thing about Lynn, she can always find the beauty in everything! That is what I like about her so much!
  • Yes, Lynn those are bittersweet memories....keep up the album, you will always cherish those good times and all the smiles they bring to you in the coming years. Your a strong woman with all that you do. Take lots of photos now too on days he is feeling strong and when you do special outings.

    Take care, Phyllis
  • Lynn,

How did you and Donald meet? I didn't realize you basically JUST got married!
  • Donald and I met 28 years ago - we were both working at the same college. We had a 25 year love affair. Ups and downs as most affairs, but MANY more ups than downs & lots of wonderful memories and vacations.

Donald had his stroke in January of 2004. He seemed to be recovering. In July of 2004, he started having seizures. I realized he was NOT going to recover to a point where he could be independent, so, I retired from my job and married him.
  • Wow! Sounds like you could write a book about it! Were you married during this affair?? (Hope I am not being tooo nosey) Or is this your 1st marriage?
  • I was married at 16 to someone else. I got divorced the day after I met Donald.

Donald was married to someone else during the entire affair. She died in June of 2004. We were married in August of 2004.
  • Wow, a true love story......

    Phyllis
  • Yes. We truly are in love. I kind of feel like we were meant to be. Donald had stroke in January - his wife dies in June - who would have cared for him if I had not been around?
  • You are an angel!!!
  • WOW! That brought tears to my eyes, that is truely awsome and definately true love!
  • Very nice!! Do you have pics of the 2 of you that you can share? I would love to see them...Oh, I will check the pics on here.....
  • OK, I didn't see any pics of you two...will you share?!
  • Wow. What a great story... ever think of writing a book? I know everyone here would read it!
