Ideas to stay positive, manage stress and be successful!

  • Here is the continuing list of tips from my Stampin' Up! keynote speaker, Sheryl Roush:

    7 Sparkle-tude Attitude Boosters:

    1. Start the day on a positive note
    2. Have only positive thoughts towards yourself and others
    3. Look for the good in yourself and others
    4. Believe in yourself, your talents, and your unique gifts.
    5. Don't take things personally.
    6. Affirm a spirit of gratitude throughout the day.
    7. Utilize your unconditional support systems. (pets, faith/beliefs, passion/hobbies, special people)

List of ideas to beat burnout, stay positive, manage stress and be successful.

    1. Honor your feelings. Allow yourself to feel each one of them without having judgements regarding them, feeling guilty, or discounting them.

    2. Honor your body. Be sensitive to subtle warning signs (lost equilibrium, blurred vision, skin rashes, headaches, back pain, fatigue, loss of sleep), and take acktion to rejuvenate, relax and replenish.

    3. Seek help. Chiropractic care, acupuncture, massage, Chinese herbs, facial, yoga, counseling, therapy.

    4. Talk to true friends. Ask for emotional support.

    5. Collect long hugs. Allow yourself to be hugged and held, to tears if needed.

    6. Have a really good cry. Get it out. Let it go . . . wail!

    7. Hit a pillow. Really hard!

    8. Work out. Walk on a treadmill or outiside for 20-30 minutes a couple of times each week.

There are 67 of these, and I will add more soon.... unless you tell me to stop! I think today's additions are great. Sometimes we hold all of our emotions inside, because we think as women, moms, wives, adults, that we have to be strong, and we forget that it is okay to let it out, to cry, to need others, to scream. Also, number 8!!!! look at that, exercise is good for our emotional health too!!!

I hope you are all having a great week.
Me, a great week, although today was a very bad food day. My birthday is tomorrow, but dh will be going to Chicago for a few days, so we celebrated today, practically all day. I enjoyed a great lunch, but not OP. I so do not have any willpower. BAD me!! Ah well, tomorrow is another day!

  • Jessica,

I soooo needed to read this! Thank you so much for sharing. My stress levels this week have been so high and they are only going to get worse as we get closer to my wedding day. At work, they are dumping about 20 small projects in my lap at once and then telling me that my people can't work any over time. These projects are in addition to are day-to-day work -so my guys are getting angry with me and making it so I am having problems depending on them. So basically I get in the mind set that if I can't count on them then I'll do it....but man I am getting stretched!

I'm going to have to buy some extra pillows....I have a feeling I'm going to be hitting a lot of them over the next 3 months!
  • Thanks Jessica, these are really good...keep posting them.

Tina, your in a very stressful time, take deep breaths and take very good care of yourself....long hot baths are wonderful....
