Not sure where to start...

...but "Hello!" seems to be a good place to begin.

I'm a London-based Yankee and I'm trying to lose the 3-4st that seems to have creeped on since I hit my 25th birthday. I swore that I wouldn't be fat for my 30th, but lo, here I am a few weeks after my 33rd b-day :yikes: and I'm a good 15lbs heavier than when I first made that promise. My big weaknesses are bread and wine.

I'm here to make some new friends, and hopefully find a diversion from those quitting demons that seem to nag me about 2 weeks in.

Hi and welcome. A diversion is right! I come here all the time. Instead of eating ... when I need the extra oomph to go exercise ... any old time.
Have you chosen some kind of plan or are you looking for inspiration? Either way, we'll help you.

Hi Susan, and than you for the welcome :)

I think I'm going to go for the whole foods/super foods option combined with biking to work 3 days each week (it's about 40 mins each way, and I hate public transport anyway). It's just dragging myself out of bed to do it when it's raining - London winters are WET and MISERABLE. It was still dark at 7.15 this morning! I do have weights at home which I like to use, so it's mainly finding a cardio substitute when I can't face the bike.

Foodwise, it seems to be the easiest for me to stick to, as I don't really eat much junk food - my main trouble spot is when I'm busy (I run my own business, so that's pretty much all the time) and I grab a sandwich from a shop. I don't do fast food, but "gourmet" sandwich shops don't seem to be all that much better. Portion control is a bit of an issue with me, but I'm just as happy to substitute veggies and low-fat dip for bread and hummous. Also, my job involves a lot of socializing (I work in the music industry, so that means lots of late nights at concerts with everyone drinking alcohol).

So I think I'll be needing a lot of diversion!

It's raining here this morning too :(
I used to think that the more stuff I could put on a sandwich the beter is was. And if it was good ... I'd have another!
Biking is good! Music eh? Do you ever have to preview video's? Can you dance in front of your TV?
I like my weights too.

I think you have all the elements going for you. Just keep plugging away! And remember that 3FC is here for you.
