I'm new & need buddies for motivation
I'm 27 & I've been overweight pretty much my whole life. I was around this weight (about 200 lbs.) in 2000 and then I lost about 35 lbs. doing Slim-Fast & drinking LOTS of water. I was down to a size 10/12 and almost happy with the way I looked, and now I'm a 16/18! I've never been this heavy, and I don't like shopping in plus sized stores :( I think I'm partially in denial at times as to how big I let myself get. I look in the mirror and don't think I look too bad, but then I see pictures and reality hits.
I've gained the weight over the last couple of years - I met my husband and we go out to eat a lot and eat a lot of desserts. I keep telling myself that I need to lose the weight, it's not healthy, I don't have the energy I used to, and my wedding ring is now stuck on my finger! I've tried everything to get it off and it now hurts and is swollen since I've been trying & trying to get it off. I called around to see how much it is to get it resized and it's around $150, and I don't want to spend that kind of money - I'd rather just lose the weight since I need to lose it anyway. My problem is eating the wrong foods because of convenience - eating processed foods, fast food, or frozen pizzas. We eat pizza at least 2 times a week. We go to the Pizza Hut buffet on Wed. nights a lot and I LOVE their cinnamon sticks (I probably don't even want to know how bad they are!) I just have to get the motivation to stop from gaining more weight. If I keep on doing what I'm doing - I'll keep on gaining & gaining. I want to lose weight too before we have kids (we want to start trying for kids next fall). I joined weight watchers last year, but only did it for about a month since I figured I'd do it on my own, and then never kept it up. I've gained about 15 lbs. this past year. I figure I'll try weight watchers again on my own for a couple of weeks doing the point system and see if that'll work along with exercising everyday & drinking a lot of water. Anyone have any suggestions? :?: Thanks - needtolose :carrot: |
Hi and welcome!
One of the many wonderful things about 3FC is that you can come here in your pyjamas. If it's encouragement you need, you'll find it here. Come and read in the morning before you even get dressed. Read some more when you thing you need something sweet ;) We'll help you along. |
hi i'm fairly new myself and this is a good place for encouragement. that is good to start off with weight watchers and exercise i know that it willo wotk if you stick with your plan. me personally seem to do good for the first two weeks then i usually get bored and quit, but this time i have a lot of encouragement so if you feel the need to quit...just holler out..there is plenty of motivation, but you can do it.

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum today. This is my first post. I am a 38 year old mother of two boys, age 7 and 9. I have done the rollar coaster weight loss. I lost 20 lbs on weight watchers, quit and gained it back. I lose 20 on herbal one, couldn't afford the pills anymore (pills are the pits), quit and gained it all back. So here I am again. I need to look at this as a lifestyle change not just a temporary diet. I have to ask myself why I am doing this. I am doing it for health, energy, God and my right to feel good about my body. I don't have a negative body image. God made me beautiful as I am, but I do need to thing about the health issues and the comfort factor. Am I comfortable in this skin? Not really. I know I can be better. I just want to encourage all of you who are new. We can do this....together. It doesn't matter how much we have to lose. What matters is we do it with a positive attitude, encourage each other during setbacks and celebrate our successes...together. Take care and I look forward to chatting with all of you on a regular basis. Tracy |
Hi there! You found a great place for support & inspiration...that's the first step.
If I were you, I'd plan on doing something different for dinner on Wednesdays than Pizza Hut (as good as that sounds right now...). Or, depending on how far it is and how cold it is, maybe you & the hubby can walk there. As a pizza junkie myself, I can tell you that breaking up is hard to do but at this point in my weight loss, I find it easier and easier to say No -- and eventually you will too. Find a way of eating that works for you today and get started :) Good luck!!!!! |
