Hi

Hi

I decided to join so I can lose this weight and get pregnant. I wish everyone success! I have seen some amazing before and after pics and hope to be part of those someday! My confusion is where to start, which diet, etc? I have been a type 2 diabetic for some time and I need to stay away from sugars and refined carbs so I don't get nasty side effects from taking metformin. But I cannot cut carbs entirely b/c then my blood sugars will get too low b/c of the other diabetic med I am taking. Any advice on a specific diet would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks ;)

Hi and welcome. A blood sugar dip can be awful! I've found that if I eat a protein with a carb every few hours (mini meals), mine doesn't have a chance to dip. I feel better and on a more even scale.
Have you gone looking around for some threads to post in?

I am not a medical expert, but if you are looking to cut refined carbs and sugar, etc. you might want to consider the South Beach Diet. My only suggestion would to maybe start it on Phase 2 as Phase 1 is very restrictive. Phase 2 is a nice balance of good proteins, good carbs, etc. I am doing Weight Watchers at the moment, but I always find myself preaching about SBD. I did it last year for the summer - it works great and I felt great while I was doing it. Check out the info they have on 3FC and see what you think.

Good luck!!

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely look at the Phase 2 of SB once the holidays are over. But I have been losing despite Thanksgiving :)
