Encouraged Newbie..looking for friends and support!

Wow! Can I just say this website is amazing. For the past few months I have been wanting to make a change. I think running across this site was just what I needed. My name is Wendy. I am married and have two children. I have been overweight for most of my life, but things have to change. While my children are little I want to be healthy and active with them. The amount of weight I need to lose seems a bit overwhelming, but seeing what some of you have accomplished lets me know I can do it!! Any advice would be great!! Looking foward to the friends and support!

Hi Wendy!

I'm Steph, today is my first day here and I'm excited to start getting healthy too! I've been overweight for 12 years now and for the longest time I wanted to be thin again ~ now I want to be HEALTHY again! Thin isn't a big enough goal for me I guess lol! I am also a mom to two. Dominic is 11 and Robby 2. I'm married and from CA and would really like to get to know some people here ~ I think it will make it easier with all the support. By the way, where did you get your ticker on the bottom? I want one!

Steph

Hi Wendy and Steph! :wel3fc: to both of you!!!

Wendy... with your positive attitude you can do this! Yes, it can seem overwhelming but let me suggest you set smaller achievable goals and take things "one bite at a time." As you can see from my ticker, I set 10 pound goals -- hard to believe I am halfway through my seventh one!! I also "redecorate" my ticker at every 10 pounds. Also you might want to give yourself rewards for mini goals. I used to do that but now have changed it as I want a BIG reward at my final goal... a cruise out of Fort Lauderdale (where I used to live and have a special friend I can stay with so won't have motel and taxi costs, etc.).

I'm not sure about your weight thing... because your profile says your current weight is 270 meaning you have already lost almost 100 pounds... but your ticker says more. In any case, let me invite you to a great support group called "300+ and Ready to Try Again." Even if the 270 is correct, that's fine... I joined when I was a bit less; I am sure you will receive a big welcome. Try the numbered threads; that's where you will find the chat.

Steph, glad you are here too! To get your ticker, click on "User CP" at top left of your screen. Then "Edit Signature" and follow the instructions there; it will tell you step by step how to make one. It's really easy!

Blessings

Thank you both for the comments.
Misti thanks for the suggestions. I went and changed my weight lol. I don't know where i got those numbers. I definately think you are right about smaller goals. I am going to sit down and figure out what I want them to be.

Steph I am looking foward to getting to know other women in the same boat as well. My children are Jake 8 and Emma 2. I think with all of the support on this site we can do this!

Wendy, glad you got your numbers right. :) Be encouraged... I met a woman at my water aerobics class this morning who looked GREAT; and she said she had lost 200 pounds by eating right and doing water aerobics!!!

It's fun too to set rewards along the way... they can be very small ones even.

Hope to get to know you better soon!! You will be surprised how fast that old ticker starts bumping over to the right! :) Congratulations on your 4 pounds! You are already on your way!!
