I'm a "Newbie" here!

Hello,

I just wanted to introduce myself to everyone. I am new here and decided I needed to find somewhere else to look for support. All of my friends have had some sort of weight loss surgery and their "diet plan" no longer coincides with mine. I am looking to make some friends and hopefully learn something.

TiffRidesAHarley 07-20-2006 02:48 AM

Why didn't my signature show up??

Misti in Seattle 07-20-2006 08:06 AM

Hi Tiffany, and welcome!!! I see you got your ticker working. :)

anirtak 07-20-2006 11:07 AM

Great to have you here, I am very new myself and three weeks in. Everyone here is great!:D

HDStreetBob 07-20-2006 11:22 AM

Hi Tiff!

I just joined today and I too ride a harley- as a matter of fact my motiviation to get fit is my birthday present from DH- a 2007 Street Bob! My DH is coming back in 2 weeks- he is Navy.

Tell me about your ride!

Stella

TiffRidesAHarley 07-20-2006 12:53 PM

Thanks everyone!!

Stella,

I don't drive right now, I currently ride. Our plan is to buy me a Harley of my own next spring. I have driven motorcycles in the past, but when we bought our bike we could only afford one. We bought ourselves a 2003 Road King Custom for a Christmas present to each other in 2002.

We have another thing in common, my husband is also military. He is in the Air Force and deployed right now to Kyrgyzstan. He is planning on returning at the end of September. I am hoping to loose quite a bit more before then.

~Tiff

HDStreetBob 07-20-2006 02:25 PM

Hey!!! Coool! !!

You are going to laugh at this- my husband does not
have a bike anymore so we are going to share mine!
But I cant be a passenger- I was traumatized in my youth on
the back of a motorcycle while taken on an involuntary **** ride so I have to be driving.

Can you imagine a military guy on the back
of a hog? HA HA HA! I think I will just let him drive it
alone and when he gets his we will go out together. *GRIN*

Hopefully we can afford to get him one in a year or two. :)

I am really hoping to be notably fitter by the time he returns.

Ohhhh Your bike sounds awesome!!!

TiffRidesAHarley 07-20-2006 02:33 PM

What sucks is he has been deployed for the summer. We live in MN, the only time to ride is in the summer. His bike is too big and scary for me to take out on my own right now. I haven't actually riden by myself in over 8 years.

I am just curious, a question I would live EVERYONE to answer: How are you fighting the battle of the bulge??

~Tiff

TiffRidesAHarley 07-20-2006 02:54 PM

like everyone to answer, not Live
Sorry,Tiff

Hi I Just Wanted To Jump In And Welcome You!! I Am New Here Too!! What Im Doing Is Exercising And Cutting Out The Fast Food And Sodas...thats All So Far

TiffRidesAHarley 07-20-2006 05:06 PM

Welcome to you too!!

I am so glad I found this place. It is a great place to talk to people that are in the same boat as you. It is the first time in my life I have listed my weight anywhere that someone can see and OMG I did it on the internet. That alone was a big deal.

oliviaCAN 07-20-2006 05:35 PM

SAME HERE..I NEVER TOLD ANYONE ABOUT MY WEIGHT, I WAS SO SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT THAT, THEN HERE I AM...POSTING IT ON THE NET LOL I LOVE IT ON HERE, ALL THE SUCCESS STORIES AND THE MOTIVATORS ON HERE REALLY HELPS...IM GLAD I JOINED HERE!! =p

HDStreetBob 07-20-2006 06:51 PM

I am doing that diet plan that sends the food to you- I have tried everything else but cannot deal with counting measuring and such right now with the 3 toddlers- it is just too easy to go off plan if there is too much thinking to do about it. :dizzy: I will be transitioning when I reach goal to the Weight Watchers mantainence(sp?) program to keep it off. I have done WW before and will have the energy to do it when I am healthy again.

Oh Tiff I am so sorry you lost the whole summer with your DH :( I am in CA so loosing the summer is not too big a deal- and besides we have not had a bike since BC (before children) so we had nothing to miss this year.

TiffRidesAHarley 07-20-2006 09:03 PM

He will be back the end of September, we are hoping we will still have some nice days left to take the bike out. Maybe a little vacation.

I am not having my food shipped to me but I use a lot of frozen dinners from the grocery store. It makes this so much easier. If I had to cook all day everyday to lose weight, I could eat whatever I wanted because I would burn so many calories cooking!!! HEE HEE not really, but you know what I mean.

Abbeycat36 07-21-2006 02:40 AM

Hi! Just thought I'd reply and say welcome to the board, I'm pretty new here too - 3 weeks.

I'm also an air force wife, my hubby is away now in Hawaii for most of the summer, back in August. Bummer. So I decided I'd go on the "deployment diet"! The day he left, i ate a whole big bag of chips and the next i started my diet. I wanted to get a good steady plan going by the time he got back, so it's working out great!! I plan to immerse him in it too when he gets back.

~ Angie

TiffRidesAHarley 07-21-2006 02:28 PM

Deployment diet, I like that. That was kind of my thinking too. I know that he will lose weight over there, he running almost everyday and doing a lot of heavy manual labor. Whenever he gains a little weight, it comes right back off. The #&$^#@&!!! Anyway, I can't have him coming home looking all hot and have me still be fat.
He knows I have lost weight but I refuse to send him pictures of myself. I will only send him head shots, nothing below the shoulders!! He is frustrated by this but I think "too bad" I want it to be a surprise!! (and I think he is going to fall flat on his face.) When I lose another 8lbs, I will be smaller than he has seen me in 9 years. I should have no problem losing that much more before he comes home, plus some. I weighed in this morning again, another 2 lbs. I need to change my ticker. I am feeling motivated now. It feels good to have been able to beat the fat that has been here for almost a decade!!!

HDStreetBob 07-21-2006 02:37 PM

WAY TO GOOO TIFF!!!!!

He is going to be shocked! I have lost a little and do not know if it will be very noticable to my husband when he returns- I hope so- we have 10 more days so maybe......
I was 183# and have been roller-coaster - riding for the last 6 months...

I would LOVE to see your husband's face when he returns!

TiffRidesAHarley 07-21-2006 03:25 PM

I'm sure he will notice! They seem to have only one thing on their brain when they get home and it doesn't matter if you are in sweats and haven't showered in 3 days. They always think you are the hottest woman in the world because they have been going without for so long.

I saw a t-shirt the other day that I HAVE to buy. It says:

"I'm sexually deprived for YOUR freedom!" :D

HDStreetBob 07-22-2006 12:02 AM

LOL! My husband has been on a ship with all men HA HA HA! You are right he will be happy to see me regardless.

That shirt sounds PRICELESS! HA!

Abbeycat36 07-22-2006 12:28 AM

haha I liked the part about sweats and no shower for 3 days. You are right!!

It's nice to be excited that you've lost weight (good going btw) and he'll see a new you when he gets back! MUCH better than the other way around, I think. Best to keep busy and focused on improvement while he's away, I think. For me, it's helping pass the time AND I get to lose weight too.

TiffRidesAHarley 07-22-2006 12:46 AM

So, the three of us all have some work to do here. How soon are your hubby's coming home?? Kris will be home late September.

He wants to go on vacation to Hawaii while he is on leave before going back to work. Am I supposed to wear a swim suit???? AAAARRRGGGHHH Not ready for that.

ssgtswife33 07-22-2006 12:57 AM

Hello Everyone!! Looks like we have alot of military wives in here :) I'm an Army wife. What Im Doing to help battle my buldge is cutting out alot of the fast foods and trying to cut down on some of my diet sodas. I'm trying to take in alot more water. That along with exercising and chasing an 18mo old around :)

TiffRidesAHarley 07-22-2006 01:06 AM

Welcome

I can't live without my diet coke!!

So are you on the "deployment diet" too?

HDStreetBob 07-22-2006 12:39 PM

He He He- Does chasing the kids around really count? *GRIN*

I have to have my diet coke too-but I am making an effort to really get the 8 glasses of water in a day. Okay- yesterday I did not even try- but I was driving all day and did not want to stop all the time to pee...

I think for me it may be hard to stay on plan after my husband gets back but I have to do it!

TiffRidesAHarley 07-22-2006 12:51 PM

That is my biggest problem, my husband makes me fat!!! He is a meat and potatoes type of guy and wants a full meal with dessert every night!! In the past I have made healthier meals for him and he just eats 3 times as much. It will be really hard when he gets home. I do all the cooking and it is going to suck to cook a GOOD, YUMMY, BAD FOR YOU meals. Then I have to make my meal onthe side, when I can smell the good stuff cooking?? aarrgghh!!! It is easy with him gone, the kids live off Mac & Cheese and other quick foods that I don't even care if I eat or not. Last night I made them real ravioli, not the canned crap. It just about killed me to walk away while they were eating. I wanted some!! But to fit in my plan, I could only have 4 of them. Didn't sound like enough to me, so I made something else for myself.

My family is another issue. I am going to my Mom's to BBQ today, but she was planning on grilling burgers and brats. SOOOOO, I am bringing my own chicken breast and salad mix. She is at the farmers market right now buying vegetables. Once I told her I was bringing my own food, I think she ran out to try to accomodate me. lol. I really love my mom. Anyway, whenever we have a family function or whatever, my family is waaaayy into food. Holidays are going to be tough.
