Can men join here too?

Hi, my name is Case. I am a married 40yo man living in the Seattle area. I am the father of three amazing kids.

I am 5'9" tall with my shoes on. :D

I currently weigh right around 300 lbs. I really would like to get to at least 200. I weighed that about 10 years ago, and was only slightly overweight at that point. I don't need to look like a Greek God, slightly overweight would be wonderful right now

Are men welcome to post here? I know a few people who are members here and they can vouch I am sincere and totally supportive of my fellow humans who want to lose weight, be they male or female

Oh, and here's a pic of me clowning around with my son. You can see my gut pretty well.

My plan is to just try to eat much healthier - much less saturated fats, processed sugar, and artificial crap. And smaller portions, with occasional veggie or fruit snacks thrown in.

And for the love of Pete I need to start exercising, even if it's just a walk.

Hi again Case,

You should check out one of the calorie count programs that are online, it has made a world of difference for me, personally.

I really never thought I could sit down and count every single darn calorie that I ate, but once you do it for a few days, and get the list of foods that you eat built up, it is really amazing. I had followed the body for life program before which does not ask you to count calories, only portions. it is a great program with proven results, for sure, but for me, I think I was cheating a little by having more portion than they suggest.

Having to mark it all down totally keeps it all in perspective much clearer.

I liked the fitday website version so much but I bought the download version yesterday, and it is even more detailed. You can keep your own custom list of food, and it tells you exactly what you need to achive (calorie wise) to meet your next goal.

it's free to sign up so just go check it out and if you don't like doing it after a couple of days.. nothing lost (money wise).

No I don't work for them.. I found out about it through this website. :D

website is www.fitday.com
there are some other calorie log websites out there too, one is called calorie king.

Hi Case... greetings from Bothell!!! :) Sure, you're welcome if you can handle all the "girl talk." :) Several guys here are quite adept at it... just ask Gary.

Oh and don't worry... MOST of us here can see our guts pretty well. :) But not for long!! :woo:

Hey, Case. Welcome from another guy. There aren't many here, but the support you receive is awesome.

Love the avatar. Firefly was the greatest show ever!!! Need to get a Jayne or Book avatar for me.

Thanks to ALL of you for the welcome.

Misti - I know Bothell well, my biofather and his wife live up there too. I'm actually down in Puyallup, I just say "Seattle area" because most people around the world have no idea where Puyallup is, but everyone has heard of Seattle.

Lenrod - I *LOVE* Firefly and Serenity. I can probably find you any icon you want.

A little more about me - I am a big movie fan, my all time faves (besides Serenity) are the Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Shawshank Redemption, Donnie Darko, and any number of Jim Carrey comedies.

I also enjoy reading, fishing, and hanging out with my wife and kids.

I have a MySpace page if anyone wants to add me - www.myspace.com/casewhacka is the URL...

Misti in Seattle 07-14-2006 08:28 AM

Hi Case... ya that is why I just say "Seattle" too. :) And the Metro area kind of all runs together so much that they are kind of "one." I've been to Puyallup at times too. LOL ya probably not a lot of people here know where THAT is and bet it would be even MORE fun hearing them try to pronounce it correctly! :)

lilybelle 07-15-2006 10:40 PM

Hi and welcome to the site, good luck and best wishes for your success.

Lenrod 07-15-2006 10:45 PM

Case, we should definitely buddy up. Sounds like we have lots in common. Serenity was so awesome. I am also a huge movie buff and was assistant manager of a local theatre for 9 years. FREE MOVIES ROCK!!!
