New guy

Hi all. Well, it's that time in my life again, time to decide to lose weight. I must do this for my family. I have a beautiful wife and two awesome girls. I have to be there for them in the future. I have been blessed to have very few health problems despite a lifetime of obesity, but I am getting older and I know they are coming if I don't change.

I'm 35 years old and not getting any younger. Been on all the fad diets over the years and this morning, I realized none of them will work until I am willing to, work that is. This is going to be hard, but worth it.

I can't get the scale to tell me how much I weigh today. It is supposedly accurate to 350 pounds, and it has told me 355 before, but this morning, it was nothing but an E, error, too fat, can't weigh you, so I am estimating 360 as my starting weight.

I would love to be 200 pounds by my twelfth wedding anniversary on July 29, 2007. Just seems like a good round number for some reason. I know this won't happen unless I make it happen.

Like the idea of having a community to support me. Look forward to reading our success stories.

Congratulations on coming here! Have you developed a plan for your weight loss? A little tip from me would be to drink LOTS of water. Just watching what you eat and frinking lots of water will probably give you a great kick start! I lost 10 lbs. my first week. Add 30 min of walking and that would be wonderful! Let us know how you're doing!

Welcome, It sounds like you have had the "click" that you need to get going. Take a look around the board. Lots of places to join in and challenges to get involved in to keep you going. Good luck (from a fellow Mississippian :))

Thanks for all the welcome. I appreciate it. JTammy, good to see another Mississippian here. I haven't really come up with a plan, still researching things. Will just cut back for right now, and drink LOTS of water. Work in some walking. I know that water thing really works, so thanks for the tip, katiesmom.

Hi Lenrod,

Glad to see you here. We are close to the same age and close to the same weight. Come and join us in the support 300+ club (I am hoping to get out of that club realllllly soon!!).

Also nice that you feel comfy with all of us here! Doesn't seem to be many men and that's okay.. all are welcome doesn't matter man or woman!!

I just started out here 2 weeks ago tomorrow and I feel fantastic and happy so far with my progres. Starting out the first week was hard but once I decided on a plan and stuck to it, it does get easier. The cravings and temptation are less than they were for the first few days.

You can do it, and we are all here to help you!! There are lots of messages and eating plans here to read about so maybe start there, and you'll find lots of inspiration.

~ Angie
