I'm new in SF BAY AREA

Hi, my name is Melissa, and it's been now almost 2 years since the birth of my daughter. After Jr. High I had trouble keeping my weight down, but it never took such a toll on me as it has now. At around 19 I lost 40 punds bringing we to a petite size of 103 pounds and in 2/3 clothing (sometimes even 1's). I managed to keep the weight off for 6 years, and got heavier (was about 120-125) before Maya was conceived. During my pregnancy I gained a whopping 50 pounds of actual weight, and then gained another 20 afterward. This past Halloween I couldn't recognize myself, and I was sooo miserable. I have managed to loose 42 pounds, but still have 40 to go to get back down to a conservative 110 (which would be about a 4/5 for me). I was hoping to find another mom, preferably local so we could maybe work out together @ 24 hr. I won't be reaching my goal by August like I had hoped, but I am alot smaller, so I'm optimistic. I would love as I mentioned a local mom, but really I would just love some dieting buddies, because I really need the help.

Thanks for reading my tale.

Melissa

Hi Melissa, Welcome to the area :welcome3: I'm also originally from NY, Upstate in the Finger Lakes area. I was dragged out here kicking and screaming by the ex. ;) I think i've gotten used to it.

You've found a good place here on the board too. Have fun, ask lots of questions. There are a lot of friendly people here! :carrot:

Re:cant Forget This...

Thank you for the festive & warm welcome. I only moved here 3 years this July 5th, and what a crazy ride it has been. Are you too in the Bay? I'm in Belmont, about 10 minutes from the San Mateo Bridge.

Yup, I'm in the South Bay, San Jose. It was definately culture shock when I came out here. Small town girl meets city! Whoaa....:D

Hello from up north in Seattle! :wel3fc:

Hello Misti in Seattle! I'm in the process of reading a book that takes place in Seattle. One of my best friends works for Microsoft and lives there too, sounds like a great city. Metro meets hippie...lol.

Karen, I lived briefly in San Jose, we're not far from each other at all. I lived only 50 miles from Manhattan, spent all weekends and Holidays in Queens & L.I. growing up, and lived in Manhattan for quite a while before moving here...the only culture shock was moving back to such a suburban area like where I grew up...I was like where are the subways...lol. I had to buy a car after I moved here, but I love my convertable, so it's was an easy adjustment...lol. We should get together sometime. Do you have children?

Melissa

No, sorry, I'm divorced with no kids. I just wasn't mommy material. ;) But i'm probably old enough to be your mom! :D So if you don't mind "hangin" with the old ladies, feel free to send me a private message.

Hello Melissa! What's the name of the Seattle book you are reading? I always enjoy things with a local flavor. :)

Book is called Pastries...

It was an excellent book; started reading it on Monday afternoon, and finished it this afternoon. Very capturing.
