Another newbie!

Hello all http://www.geocities.com/besocelestial/wave.gifI've never attempted dieting with any support at all so this is all new to me.

About me:

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. 40 miles out of Seattle. Transplanted from my original home of New York thanks to my Navy Husband. Just hit 37 years old and have spent my life hearing from my skinny mother and skinny sisters that I was SOLID and BIG BONED. Proved that wrong a couple of times by losing weight and feeling great but couldn't keep it off for more than a year. Right now I am about 40 pounds overweight and have been able to maintain that by not getting any heavier...but I feel like crap. I haven't been on my treadmill for a year, feel too darn tired most times to do much of anything that I don't absolutely have to, and I really want to start something but I am not sure what.

My husband is 6'5" and blessed with one of *those* metabolisms. He constantly eats...and eats....and eats...and the poor thing can't get above 210 :rollpin:

He prefers healthy food, just lots of it and lots of it; after dinner, watching TV, in bed, in the car...
I make this wonderful dinner, eat my nice healthy portions while him and our almost 13 year old son eat 2nds and 3rds. Two hours later I hear him rattling around in the kitchen making a boboli pizza or whatever. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

Cheese. Can't resist it. http://www.geocities.com/besocelestial/wah.gifHence the nickname.....

So looking forward to getting into the groove with you guys.

Well, hi neighbor! :) I am actually just north of Seattle too on the East Side. I agree it is gorgeous here!

So glad you are here. Like most of us, sounds as if you are facing the need to change your habits. Let me encourage you to start that exercise again even if it is just for small periods of time... and get started. Also, instead of the Boboli pizza, try stocking up on healthy snacks such as fruits, veggies and popcorn. Yah I know it doesn't sound as exciting but once you get "weaned" off the bad stuff you will find they taste great.

Not sure which area close to Seattle you are... but if you are anywhere near the Yakima Fruit Market just out of downtown Bothell headed toward Lake Forest Park, they have wonderful dried fruit and veggie bags that do not have added sugars, etc. YUM... I love them, especially the veggie ones. They are a super snack! I have not seen them anywhere else.

Well howdy back neighbor! I live north of Seattle in Marysville. (Just north of Everwet ;)

Getting ready to hit the sheets about now and feeling pretty good. I had hubby move my treadmill from the extra bedroom into the master bedroom. In the past I had success on the mill while watching TV instead of listening to music. (Which is weird since I am always listening to music, ya know, cleaning the house, driving, gardening with the ipod on, etc.)

Yep, my habits suck but I do buy healthy snacks and actually enjoy, even prefer fruits and veggies as snacks as opposed to chips or deserts and such. I mostly gain weight on too much of the good stuff and eating at all hours.

For instance, Dinner tonight was broiled chicken, rice with herbs and veggies, a beautiful assortment of yellow crookneck, zucchini, and baby carrots, and a delicious mesclun greens salad from my garden. I do not butter the veggies and rice in the pot but add it to my husband's plate only. My son won't miss it as I never really cooked with it, he likes the real taste of veggies.

So I had a nice plate of food....the menfolk chowed down.....and an hour and a half later I am contemplating how nice a big salad with some shredded chicken and veggies in it sounds. Just my mindset. I sliced up some melon and strawberries and we all had some of that.

Now here it is 10:30 at night and I hear that darling man of mine creeping downstairs. What will it be? There aren't any chips in the house, maybe he'll cook himself a grilled cheese?...hmmmm....some pistachios? Will he make some top ramen? Whatever it is it will make me want something, anything!!! The boboli, well I buy them for quick dinners and he snacks on them!!!!

Tonight I will drink my water....here in a mason jar at my side and not even pay attention to what he is eating and get my a** on the treadmill tomorrow AM.

Oh. Not too close to Yakima fruit market but you have me thinking that I will get my dehydrator out of the garage and get busy with it!

Thanks for the welcome and letting me ramble and whine!

LOL Christina... yah the dehydrators are great. I need to dig out mine also. I love fresh pineapple on it and also the seedless red grapes.
