New and NEED a buddy!

  • I've been kinda hanging around, but I am ready to make a commitment. I need to lose some weight. I am a horrible emotional eater and it has been getting worse. I am 5'8 and weigh 211.4 (as of this morning) pounds.

I lost 70 pounds about 6 years ago, but m,arriage and 2 kids have put it back on. when I lost weight before I was calorie counting and I did really well. I have been trying all of this year to lose some weight (and I gained 5 ) but nothing has worked. It seems that as soon as I start 'dieting' I start to crave foods, and after a few days I binge and I feel horrible and I start again the cycle continues..

I need some support, I dont really have any friends here, and I need someone to help me, someone that I can support and encourage and get the same from them...

  • Vanessa,

I can really relate to your issues, I also lost 70 lbs. about 6 or 7 years ago (never felt better in my life), but then I got married and very gradually put almost all of it back on. I have no children but was pregnant and carried until 5 months when I delivered so I feel that my body has gone thru close to the same changes as every one elses (if not more). I have been active in this site since the last week of November 05 and have lost 14 lbs. It has come off quite slow but as least it is coming off. I have been trying not to "diet" per say, I'd like to eat less and more sensibly for the rest of my life, and avoid denying myself foods I love, it can be done. I have also been trying to excercise regularly (real important for me to lose weight and not starve myself), although I have been slacking a bit lately. But when I do excercise I usually walk outside or do "Walk away the pounds" tape inside the house. I currently have a small support group on this site but am always looking for more people support and gain support from. I have found the daily accountability of chatting w/ someone on this site has really helped me to keep going for the last 6 months. So if you would like to buddy up I'd love to help you out best I can to start losing weight. It really is much easier when you have some help.

Hope to hear from you soon.

  • Hi Nymmy and Venessa,

I am new here and I am 153 pounds which is really high for my height (5'2") ok 5'1". My goal is to go back to 115 which is ideal for my height. Yes, I was there 3 years back with a diet called "general motors" diet which worked wonders for me and two of my friends who did it with me.

But then I got married, moved to a new country, new jobs etc etc and put on again. I have started running 15 minutes a day (4 times a week) in our park but that makes me very hungry...but I will not stop!

I know i can diet hard coz I have done it..but then you cant leave anything halfway. got to keep doin it. have no friends as I just moved here and my husb will never support my dieting. he does motivate me to run with him.

we dont eat any sugar in the house or outside due to his diabetes. I am desparately looking for weightloss buddies who will work as a team and motivate eachother. I try to not get depressed because of my weight and in general keep a healthy attitude.

I check my weight veery two days (I know its not easy)!!!if you gals are ready, may be we could sketch a plan and start right away!
