Hi Misti
I figured others would join whichever "diet" board they were doing... but I also figured they'd post here as well. Seeing as how this board is strictly for finding a buddy... thus the reason I came here to post.
It's just so hard to diet on my own. I really need that daily support from a buddy or group of them. I know I can post a thread, and people will offer support... but it's not the same as having the same people there, who know your story and struggle, to really push you the distance... ya know? |
Well perhaps they WILL post here. And yes, I certainly do understand that it is great to have a buddy or group of them. I guess I was just pointing out that there are lots of places here to find them, though sometimes when you are new it can be hard to find it. Hang in there!
If you are on a particular diet, there are sections for several different ones. I am following my own plan so mostly read in the diet ones. One good way to get acquainted is to join in some of the challenge threads... whether it is for eating, exercise or whatever. There are also sections for things such as faith based support, age groups, etc. I kind of float around all over the place but do have a few special groups I participate with on a regular basis. Hang in... you'll find your way around. AND yes... perhaps there WILL be others who will want to join in right here where we are. Just please don't be discouraged if it doesn't happen that easily... it WILL happen if you just surf around the forum a bit... there are a lot of wonderful folks here!! |
Hi Lighthouse...
I'm still here--just a sporatic poster on weekends. Speaking of weekends, how are you with the diet on weekends? I found it really difficult--not so much from a willpower standpoint, just from a trying to find something to eat that wouldn't blow it standpoint. Did ok though, not good and not TOO bad. Back on the saddle 100% though today. How are you doing? |
COLOR="Magenta"]hello!!! today is my very first day ever dieting online. i have been dieting and binging for a while now and thought, right! its time to get a grip and control the cake cravings :dizzy: !!!! i will be going on the lipotrim and wondered if any one has done it before? or if any one is doing it now. i really need some support :carrot: hope to speak to some one soon [/COLOR]

hi there luv, i am here. i had a really busy weekend. i too wish i could remember to post everyday as well. my weekend was great and at the same time awful, diet wise. got a babysitter friday night and met some friends for dinner and then sunday we went to the lake with chips, sandwiches and all the extras. we are about the same weight and height wise and pretty close at the same goals. i tell you what i will promise to remember to post everyday even if i just manage a hi and you do the same for me.
the boss is on vacation this week and i'm trying the run the dept. had someone call in sick for the entire week so things will be very busy for all of us this week. i hope i can stay busy working and not snacking. i get major snack attacks during the day. waiting to here how your weekend went. |
Good you see you ladies again!
My weekend was pretty good. I did go off my diet, but not too badly. I'm still in Wave 1 of Somona, where fruit is off limits. I went to a BBQ, and had fruit though. Boy was it good!:p I also had a small piece of cake... but I had no guilt! The rest of the BBQ was "diet" friendly, garlic shrimp, caprese salad, etc.
However, today I weighted myself, and I'm done 10 lbs... so what did I do? Ate a cookie!:o I know I shouldn't have, but I wanted that cookie more than anything. I know that if I have to change my lifestyle and way of eating, I can make better choices, but there will still always be cookies in my life. I have to admit, I'm a dessert junkie! Usually, my DH and I have icecream everynight for dessert. I'm on day 8 w/out icecream, and I'm telling you, I miss it! The Sonoma Diet restricts sugars for 10 days to rid you of your sweet cravings... yeah, right!:) My craving will never subside... I love sweets! |
Hi Luv,
I'm also a certified junkfood junkie....I feel your pain. Congrats on the 10lb loss!!! Instead of rewarding yourself with what got us all into this predicament to begin with, have you thought of trying something else? Maybe a manicure or pedicure or a bouquet of fresh flowers? It sound so corny...but it helps. Since SB restricts sugar and sweets, I've discovered a bunch of no sugar options that calm the cravings and satisfy the sweet tooth. Now nothing compares to ice cream and cake--but if you can be good 5-6 days a week, when you have that small splurge it won't wreck your hard work. Some things we've stocked our fridge with are sugar free pudding, sugar free pudding pops, and this yummy ricotta cheese desert that SB recomends. After a week of no/low sugar--I had a piece of wedding cake this past weekend--and my stomach DID NOT LIKE it. When I thought about it, I just wanted it because it was there, not because I was having a huge craving for it. My issues are all mental. My body doesn't need this crap anymore, but I just need to convince my brain!!! Have a fantastic day! |
I agree Lynsda! Small rewards... NON-food!! -- along the way are a real encouragement. Personally I am trying to STOP thinking of food as a "reward."
Since I haven't been buying small rewards along the way lately, for my 40 pound loss I bought a food processor. When I get to 50 I want either a meat grinder or a Food Saver... both are on my list of things to obtain! These are rewards which will HELP me along the way in my healthful lifestyle plan rather than hinder it. However, it doesn't HAVE to be something expensive... I have even gotten something from the dollar store at times for my rewards when funds were low. You are so right... our bodies do not need all that junk. |
i have been soo bad this week so far. i will begin once again tomorrow. work has been a little slow, but the rest of the week will be busy and that will help.
hello everyone. hope you all had a good day at the office. to wrap up my day in a word,i will use "exciting". throw in about 14 women into an office and there you go. i will let yall know how my day does tomorrow with the diet and work. |
Day 9 of my diet, sigh...
I'm still trying to stick to my diet, but it's not getting easier... as I thought it would. I still dream of my desserts! :p I've been good today, but I can't tell you all how much I HATE salad right now. I swear, I've eaten it twice a day for the past 9 days. BLAH! Granted, I have other stuff w/it, but still... I guess if I didn't hate veggies so much, I could have them in lieu of salad... but I loath veggies. Gee, I wonder why I'm fat... I hate veggies and love desserts. :dizzy:
I hope you are all having a better time adjusting to eating differently than we are all used too. It's such a battle. |
Welcome to all the new people. Hope you all have great success with your chosen plans. As for sweets, I buy Russell Stover Sugar-Free candies at WAlmart and put them in my dresser. When I get a craving that won't pass, I eat these. They taste great. They are very low-carb. I am on Atkins and use them as needed. Also, Braum's has fantastic low-carb ice cream. Not sure if these are allowed on your plans but thought I'd mention them in case you can have them. Wishing everyone the best.

Also Braums has sugar-free ice cream that I used to get my mom who was diabetic.

Hi Everyone!
I had a sort of "cheat" night last night. I'm still on phase one of SB...but went out with some classmates to celebrate our last masters classroom class. Instead of using that as an excuse to quit, I'm right back on the diet today. That is huge for me. I cheated yes, but didn't quit. Luv--do you have any "goal pants" or anything that you're just dying to wear? I hung a pair up in plain view in my closet--that has been extremely helpful when I'm thinking of quitting...a visual reminder of where I want to go. The sugar free desert ideas are great too! Lifesavers makes sugar free creamsavers....and that keeps the mouth occupied during a craving. You can do this. Your health is more important than sweets! Don't think of this as a diet, think of it as a lifestyle change. Slowly but surely, this will become your daily life and you won't want or need deserts. Happy Hump Day! |
I do have "goal" clothes
I have this great shirt I bought, but it just didn't look quite right. I'm hoping by next week, it'll look good.
I finished 10 days on Sonoma... which is great, because the diet has three waves, I just finished the first one! :carrot: Starting tomorrow, I get to eat fruit again. Yeah! Lyn, it's okay to have a "cheat" day... I mean, what is life if you can't enjoy some of the sinful delights from time to time. Just as long as most of the time you are on track. Lily, thanks for the dessert ideas. I will have to check them out! Emily, don't let one bad meal throw you off for the whole day. Just go back to what you should be doing at your next meal. I know, easier said than done... but you can do it. Misti, I am going to reward myself w/a facial... now, if I can only find time to make that appointment. I do deserve a little treat. ;) Hope today finds all of you well! |
