Hi there

Hi, I'm Nicole. I found this forum quite by accident a couple of days ago and have been lurking every since. Since you all seem so nice, I think it's time I jumped in and introduced myself.

I'm in my early thirties and have always been overweight, although that's gotten worse over the last year or so. My partner and I broke up rather acrimoniously about a year ago, and I took comfort in junk food. About 6 months ago I was diagnosed with clinical depression and basically lost all motivation to do anything. I'm slowly starting to get there, and figure that it's time to take control of my life and my eating habits.

I've tried virtually every diet going, but haven't been able to lose more than about 10 pounds before I lost motivation. This time I'm going to do better...

I work as a claims officer for an insurance company, which is quite mentally demanding, but not particularly physically demanding. I get my exercise by walking to and from work - it's twenty minutes from the bus stop to the office - and I've decided that I won't be using the lifts at work. My desk is on the third floor, and I'm more than capable of walking up and down two flights of stairs. I also try and walk for about 30 minutes in the evening, and an hour's walk on weekends/days off.

So, yea. That's me. :)

Welcome! Sounds like you're off to a good start with the walking you are doing. :bravo: That's how I started too and it really helped. What kind of food plan are you following? You'll find all kinds of groups here. Calorie counters, south beach, atkins, weight watcher etc.... It's nice when you can find people that are doing the same kind of thing that you are.

You can do this! :cheer:
