Need a buddy to challenge?

Hey!
I'm a 19 y/o F ( 5'6"; 141lbs) looking to lose about 10-15 pounds. BUT just like most college students (and everyone else), I am lacking in motivation in that area considering all of my attention usually goes to school. I am looking for someone around my age (or at least within 15 years of me :P) with similar goals. Anyone up to a 10 week challenge (starting tomorrow)???

oh yeah, did I mention that I am at this horrible plateau where I will lose 2 pounds, then gain it, then lose it, then gain it again for no good reason???

I'm game - if WAY part time students count! :D (I work at a university so classes are cheap for me and I joke that I'm on the 40-year masters degree plan) I want to lose 25-30, and I just picked today as my "starting fresh" day. What kind of challenge do you want to do? Just weight loss?

Hey!

Geez, I wish I could get my classes at discounted rates! Anyways, the more the merrier! I am "starting over" again. I am also trying to get down to about 130lb. I've been down there before (when I lost about 20 lbs my last year in high school) and then by the 2nd year of college (I'm in a PharmD program) the stress finally caught up to me, making me gain about 15 lbs. So I am motivated for losing it! Although this time, I need a buddy because my BF isn't much help since he can lose weight in a blink of an eye. So how are you dieting/ what diet are you using? Any form of exercise? I mainly use calorie counting since it's the easiest and I try and exercise about 5-6 days a week (although during the semester, I'm lucky if I get 3...but since summer is here..)

I'm calorie counting too, it worked well for me once before! I'm hoping to stay in the 1350-1500 range. I go to martial arts class (hapkido) 3x a week, but I really need 2-3 more days of exercise to be effective at losing. My DH and I just joined a gym near our hapkido school, but it doesn't open until June 1. I'm hoping now that the weather is better I can go out on my bike at least on weekends until then!

Skinny Squirrel- I am also trying to stay within that caloric range. Although I think I've learned my lesson of needing to switch it up every couple of days because then my body just gets used to it. So like one day I might be doing 1350 and the next maybe 1500, you know? I am also getting rid of my cheat days. It became a really bad habit that a gym trainer told me that one day out of the week I can eat whatever I want all day, just as long as the other 6 days are clean and healthy. BUT my cheat days turned into 'let's see how much food I can stuff in my mouth today' and ruined any weight loss success I had. So I have revamped my lifestyle to only allow a "cheat" dinner and the rest of that day be healthy. That way I won't feel as guilty with going overboard and my body might react to it by losing weight :D

With exercise, I am going to just be doing cardio for the next two weeks and then pick up the weights again when my weight has gone down a little bit more because my body type loves to put on muscle. Not that that's a bad thing, but I end up looking bulky because I still have the fat on my body that I want to get rid of. Yesterday I was looking online for a kickboxing class so when I lose 5 of my 15 pounds, I can reward myself with something healthy, BUT every gym around my area (in Missouri) makes you become a member first before you can sign up for classes. And there is no point of paying to be a member of a gym when I have a free gym at my school and at my work..So the search continues....

Helwa588- Join the group! We can all support eachother since we seem to all be in the same boat! :carrot:
