New fat chick here

Hi everybody, I found this site by accident and thought "what a great idea".
I am 29 and live in Australia and am embarking on a "lifestyle change" to lose my fat FOREVER, hopefully.
I don't have an exact amount yet that I am trying to lose, but it's around 30kg, yep, 30kg, it sounds like so much, and I don't want to fall off the wagon like I have every other time.

Deb W 04-21-2006 08:36 AM

Hi Liamsmummy, I am also a newbie. However I found this site on purpose just because I need to talk about this issue and my husband is ready to strangle me, He's so sick of it. Poor guy! I'm needing to loose about 50 lbs FOREVER! Sorry I'm not sure about the conversion from lbs to kg. But I DO know that I am sick of doing it the wrong way and not getting anywhere.
Just so you know I am a 37year old mother of 3, a nursing student, from Independence Kentucky. Good luck to you and to all us newbies!!

vaughnc5920 04-21-2006 08:47 AM

Welcome to both of the newbies!!!! It is really great here, and there is so much support.

Let me know if you need a buddy or someone to talk to

Liamsmummy 04-21-2006 08:54 AM

Thanks ladies, you may get sick of 'hearing' me whine though, lol

Morning Ladies and Gents!!!
Day two! Ok I'm up and adam but I haven't excersised yet. I will as soon as I get done posting this, honest! I was really good about my eating yesterday and took the stairs at work instead of the elevator. Every little bit counts right? So here I go AGAIN. I guess its just a matter of how bad you want it,
and I really want to be thin again. ( I wasn't always this big).
So good luck today everyone. Let's go get 'em!!!

Hi Syrena... welcome! You've come to the right place to make great cyberbuddies who will care and support you! :carrot:

friendlykat4u 04-23-2006 10:07 AM

Welcome Syrena! I'm also doing WW, I've doing it for about 5 weeks now and so far so good! It's a great plan.

Good luck, this is definitely a great website for support! :)

Michiemish 04-23-2006 05:39 PM

Deb W 04-23-2006 09:26 PM

HI Syrena! I think you'll like this site. I've been telling lots of people about it.
I've only been on a few times but the response is great. My cousin lost over 50 lbs w/ ww and she is now a leader! You go Girl!! Personally I'm just trying to eat right and excersise a whole lot more. It's funny but just getting on this is helping! Go get em!!!

princessmtkg 04-24-2006 12:07 AM

It really is awsome to see so many dedicated people...new or maintaining the journey. I am new as well and I am so glad I found this site

friendlykat4u 04-24-2006 09:35 AM

WW is great, it really teaches you how to eat better. I don't go to meetings, I signed up for WW at Work years ago and didn't like it. Too much pressure at work and I felt like all eyes were on us all the time.

I kep the material "Winning Points", and I just started again 5 weeks ago. My husband is also doing this with me and it's great. I love to cook so now I've turned into a freak measuring and weighing everything...lol. :D And I'm always looking for easy & yummy recipes.

I'm also a Cooking Light subscriber, that magazine is great. It has so much information, not just about cooking but healthy living in general. Their website is great too. Certain recipes can only be accessed if you're a subscriber, but others are free. It has definitely helped me a lot b/c their recipes list calories, fat, and fiber content which is what you need to figure out points. I love it! :)

princessmtkg 04-25-2006 03:44 PM

Hey ladies...just checkn in to say hi and see how everthing is going with you all. Today has been rough....Not doing well on my water today and lunch was a disaster....I really messed up today so far. UGH! I hate emotional eating...

Deb W 04-26-2006 08:17 AM

Hey princessmtkg, I know how you feel. I had chineese food (the sweet sticky kind) the other night. Just hop back on the bandwagon and don't let one day turn into 2 or3 or 4!! You can do it!

friendlykat4u 04-26-2006 02:17 PM

Princessmtkg, don't let one slip frustrate you. Just forget about it and move on. Have a huge 0 point salad for dinner and end of story! :D You'll be fine. We all have our moments!

exquisitern 04-26-2006 02:24 PM

Hi Mishiemish:
I'm new to weight watchers. I started 4/24/06 and weighed 214.5. I go back tomorrow for weigh in. I think I will have done good. I've stuck to my diet and kept tracking my points ever so diligently and even got in a couple of days of walking which is good for me. My goal in 141 lbs. My personal first goal is 204.5 lbs I've tried many different diets over the year, but I plan to stay motivated. Good luck to you.
If I ever figure out how to add the weight ticker, I hope to get it on here too.

friendlykat4u 04-26-2006 02:40 PM

exquisitern 04-26-2006 05:12 PM

Well, I went to the ticker and made the ticker, but I must be computer challenged. Then I wasn't sure where to go to paste my ticker. Hate to ask for help, but HELP!!!
Thanks for everything.
Donna

exquisitern 04-26-2006 05:13 PM

Misti in Seattle 04-29-2006 03:59 AM

Welcome to the newbies! You are off to a great start!!

exquisitern 04-29-2006 09:27 AM

Good morning all!!!! I just want to say it's great all the support that is here at this site! It makes it very encouraging!!! I did give my self a treat of a rice Krispie treat (the lunch box size) it only has 2 points, but they are good! Hopefully I can walk today if it doesn't rain. I'd like to get a mile and a half in. Everybody keep up the good work.
Donna

friendlykat4u 04-29-2006 01:30 PM

Glad everybody is doing great and keeping motivated! I'm pretty happy too, I've lost 18 lbs in 7 weeks, and the great thing is that I don't feel hungry or deprived in any way. I'm making better food choices. I AM cooking up a storm now, but I don't mind it, I like it.

I think what has made a huge difference is this website. This is like a lifeline for me now! Thank you all!

I'm also working out regularly. I do 20 minutes on my elliptical machine 5 days a week. I know compared to other that's almost nothing, but to me is a BIG change, I'm not exactly an exercise lover, but I know it's essential for me to do it, not only for weight loss, but for overall good health.

So let's all keep moving, we're all in this together!!! :)

exquisitern 04-29-2006 02:06 PM

That's a great loss. I know what you mean, this time I have started cooking more. That was part of my problem, just getting fast food or bumming out on some high calories snacks. I've made some really great soup and chile. I love casseroles too. I made a pretty good tuna casserole, that I just tried. I'm doing Weight watchers and there are so many recipe ideas on this site.
I have just started back to walking. I walked twice last week and I want to get up to 3x's this week.
Good luck and keep up the good work!
