For Lent I Gave Up Being Fat

I am not actually Catholic but it just so happened that it was Ash Wednesday when I decided that I could give up being fat. I have just decided that I can change my lifestyle for the next 45 days (Easter Sunday is when lent ends) and then by then it will be a habbit :)

I have published my fitday.com food journal so there is accountability of the calories I am putting in my body. I went to the library and checked out every pilates dvd they had, that meant I got 6 different work-outs. I went home and did the first one that night. I am also trying to curb my cravings for food with a little dietary supplement boost. I know there is no magic pill and that you must eat healthy and exercise, this for me, is a stepping stone towards that.

I have told my friends, family and co-workers in order to make sure that I have great reminders around me to the commitment I made, and I am posting here!

I would say wish me luck, but luck isn't what is going to make a lifestyle change. I wish for support and to be able to find that inner strength to get through the rough times and enjoy my success.

*cheers* here is to giving up being fat :carrot:

It was funny I was snuggling with my boyfriend and he playfully squeezed my thigh, and I said to him, "better say goodbye to the pudge, I gave it up for lent". He smiles and says, "goodbye and hello to new lean you". He is so dang cute - even did Pilates with me last night.

Hi Sassy,
Great idea for what to give up for lent.
I had to laugh, because I'm not catholic either however my husband and most of my family is. Therefore I do participate in giving up something for lent. I gave up soda. I wish I had thought of your idea.
Great for you that you have made the decision to make a change.
So instead of wishing you luck, I will simply say that I look forward to hearing about your weight loss accomplishments.

I gave up chocolate for Lent(i'm not Catholic either...but what a great idea they have there lol), but i've been told to also give up being hard on myself lol...so i'm working on that, and hopefully i can stop doing that altogether!

Good luck with everything, you can do it!!

Thanks! Well I actually got in the mind-set on Tuesday, and got on the scales today, one pound down! Hey I am taking it :) Every little victory helps. Tomorrow my goal is to go swim laps for an hour - my little girl is in cheerleading for 1.5 hours at the same fitness center so it works out perfect. They want to stay after and swim so maybe I will swim even longer *crosses fingers*
