I don't like the scale
Hi, I'm new to this forum. The site seems to be full of good information and support for those of us working towards weight loss.
I'm 35 and from Canada. I've just recently made the decision to lose weight. My first goal is to lose about 50 lbs within about a year. If I'm successful, I'll aim for losing an additional 50 lbs the following year. I don't know if this is a reasonable goal, but I certainly hope so. I'm not sure if I want or need a buddy because I don't really know what I can do for a buddy or what she could do for me. Have others found having a buddy helpful? If so, in what way were they helpful? |
Hi and Welcome.
I am fairly new as well. I signed up to 3FC about a week ago and it has been incredibly motivating for me. Everyone has been so supportive and friendly. I think the goal that you have set is very realistic. I have about 86lbs to lose and would like to do so by year end. Basically it accuates to losing about 2lbs a week. Best of luck on your weight loss. I have found that having a buddy helps. Especially if it is someone that is in the same situation as you. Its like your trying to lose weight together. Its always nice to talk to someone who knows how you feel. |
Hi Snowflakie  and :welcome: to 3 F C!!
I see we don't live far from each other I am only an hour away from Montreal on the Ontario side. The WHOLE site has been my buddy in the last few years since I have been a member. I don't think losing 50# / year is asking too much. Meg who is a regular poster and moderator lost 135# in a year and has kept it off for going on 4 or 5 years now... So I know it can be done, but not without a LOT of work and determination, so GOOD LUCK and post often and read a lot... |
Welcome.. Good luck with your weight loss efforts!

Welcome to the boards!
I'm near you as well. 50 pounds is very reasonable for one year :) As for buddies, I had a small group of buddies a while back, but everyone ended up chatting about their day and the weight loss sorta took a backseat lol A friend of mine was my weight loss buddy for a while, but that was a bust...I'd show up to work out and if she didn't feel like it (or if I didn't feel like it), we gladly skipped the workouts and sat on the couch to watch tv instead (silly enablers that we were) :dizzy: So my buddy experience hasn't worked very as far as actual weight loss goes lol But I met some really nice people in the process. If anyone ever wants to drop me a line, please do! I don't sit on the couch anymore tho ;) But I will gladly offer support and occasional kicks in the butt :D |
