A lurker comes out
Hello everyone.
I found your website a few weeks ago, another member at a message board I frequent had a countdown in her signature that came from your site, and to be honest, the name caught my attention. I need to lose weight, for health reasons. My family has a long history of heart disease at an early age. I'm 23, and my dad's side of the family has all suffered their first heart attacks in their 30's. This scares me pretty bad. But unfortunately, not bad enough to have changed anything in the past few years. I am now 100 pounds over weight. The straw that broke the camels back was yesterday when I stepped on the scale and saw that it was at an all time high. Now I wish I could post an inspiring "I'm going to do this" introduction, but that's just now how it is. I know that I need to do this, and I know that I want to do this. But I've been saying every morning for a month now that today is the day. And it never happens. I walk to the kitchen to get a piece of fruit for breakfast, and I walk out with cookies. My husband and I are living with his parents while we look for a house and try to sell our old one 600 miles away (as my name tells, he is an over the road trucker and rarely home.) So clearing the house of junk is not possible, since it's not my kitchen and I don't do the grocery shopping. I'm hoping to find support and advice here. I've got a small goal to start, I would like to lose 5 pounds by St Patricks day... nothing more, just a start. Thank you for listening to my rambles. |
i know exactly how you feel, i thought i could never do it. i would lay in my bed at night and fell like i was spinning out of control. i would make all of these ideas on how i was oging to do it, an it wouldn't work. i finally started weight watchers, and i am oing it on my own, i am just following the books, and i have lost 34 pounds since nov. i know it seems slow, but i know i can do it. And so can you. I will be praying for you.

welcome - good luck with it all.
My hubby is on the road a lot as well (travels - inspects plants nationwide) and I know this board can help a lot when you need support especially when the hubby is not around. If you need to talk I am around a lot. Good job to start with a small goal and just keep adding to it. I am trying to state some goals about 10 lbs a month (varies) and exercise amounts each month to stay on track and not be overwhelmed with 120 total I want to lose. Take care - Erin |
Welcome... Good luck with your weight loss efforts!

Welcome! i know all to well being married to a OTO trucker. 7 years was plenty.. and now i'm very happy he's a 'local' trucker. :D
Shop for yourself. Have a plan in place first (i.e. calorie counting, low carb, WW, JC, etc) and see if your inlaws would mind you keeping your own shelf of food in the fridge and pantry. When you are tempted by anything your inlaws bring in.. go do something else, like brush your teeth, (nothing taste good after that!) go for a walk, or get online and chat here!!! ;) This place is full of wonderful advice, and support. Use it to your advantage. Like you said, start out small... but try and tell yourself as much as you can stand, that you are worth the effort!!! Your marriage is worth the effort!!! No one can do this for you. You are WORTH IT!!! Good luck on your weight loss adventure... |
