Help Need in Texas!!
Hi. I'm new here but not really new to the concept of a weight loss forum. I have been a member of 2 others. They both started off great for me, but the first one just didn't have enough people regularly and the second one had moderators who "felt" their power. Posts they didn't agree with they would remove. I even saw one person have their entire diary deleted because she didn't have the "accepted" opinion. I noticed that I was getting a pretty cold shoulder just for being friends with one of those people. Hard to give and receive support that way. I started in August at 264 pounds. I have gotten down to 220 but in the past month or so put 8 pounds back on. It's time to get back in gear. "Diets" don't work for me. I do pretty well when I just make sensible healthy choices and try to remain active. Problem is I have zero willpower on my own. That's why I come to these forums. I need to have someone keep kicking booty. I actually have the knowledge to share, just need help to keep going. I'm 5'3" and my ultimate goal is 135 pounds. I hoped to be below 200 by my birthday on March 3rd but that's not going to happen, so now my goal is to be below 200 by my Mom's birthday which is March 17th or my daughter March 29! I can use all the help I can get!

Hi, from South Texas! I have looked around and the one thing I do notice is that this forum is updated regularly, and a lot of people post each day. I do too. With some topics, in truth, u may get less responses because either they have been talked about a lot already and are still listed or a feeling that this is felt by most members and hence u get at least a response to search the archives because their has been some talk on such topics. Yet, on the broad scale and most topics are pretty well discussed when newly posted - eg. this one.
Anyway, don't know where u were before but welcome!:carrot: fine. fine. i'll be as kind as falon:hug::D |
I'm a Texan too!!!!
Hello there!!! Glad to find another Texan. I too have a big problem with my weight. I started out weighing 246 and managed to lose 6lbs. Now I am at a standstill. I get no support are encouragement from my family. They all like to eat and expect me to do the same. I heard about this site and joined up hoping to find people just like me. Someone who understand how I feel and will cheer me on and someone that I can also cheer on. I have no willpower at all. I get so down on myself. I wear a size 22 pant and they are snug on me but I refuse to buy anything bigger. I just need someone who will take this journey with me. And I will do the same for you.
Lots of weight to lose, Polly C PS.......... Texas 135 My birthday is March 2nd!!!!!:carrot: |
Thanks for the kind responses. Polly, I'm glad to hear from another Texan too. And Kayele, how dare you leave Texas!! Anyway, I'm spending the weekend getting myself together to start getting back on track as of Monday morning. I'm looking forward to my time here. I am having problems with it moving too slow, probably my computer since there's so much here. But I will be patient. I get about 8 "object expected" script errors every time I click on anything. And I can't use the smilies(frowning!) I'm going to wander around and check things out. Polly, what part of Texas are you in? I'm just south of San Antonio.

Hi Texas! I am here in central Texas. I have lost a lot of weight, but did it pretty slowly. It took me about 2 years to lose the first 45. I don't diet, just eat less, make better choices, and try to exercise more, even though I HATE exercise. Make realistic goals for yourself and don't beat yourself up for backsliding. I have gained and lost the same 5 pounds for the last year or so.....I am back on the losing side now and want to keep going.
I think 1-2 pounds a week is a good goal, so keep that in mind. Do a lot of reps of small hand weights really helps me, I like that for some reason. Good Luck! |
I'm not in Texas, just wanted to say bravo on your 36 Lbs loss so far!! Keep up the good work.. :)

WTG, on the weight lose. I can understand your willpower problem. I have similar one. On a good diet, I can lose about 5 pounds before my motivation leaves. It used to be ok, because I could maintain that weight lose until motivation slowly returned. Unfortunately, it's been 2 years since I maintained a diet long enough to lose anything, and I've crept up to 160 lbs. Locationwise, I'm in Central Texas, with a 40min. drive to get to a grocery store or fast food place.
Good Luck on continuing the weight loss. Take it day by day. Let go of your past mistakes, and build upon your victories. |
I am in the middle of nowhere too! What do you think about this cold front? I had a 5-k race this morning and was not too impressed with that wind...
Welcome to 3FC, and good luck with all your goals! I am sure you will do fine, you're off to a great start. |
It's nice that it feels like winter again. Good going on the 5-k race. I have to admit, I was impressed by the wind today. At one point, I felt it push against my car as I watched a stop light sway back and forth.
Congratulations at being so near your goal. |
Brr I grew up in new england and was glad to leave the cold behind me! this is supposed to be texas after all... that wind was killing me while running, tears in my eyes and hands all swelled up--it was miserable!

Hi Texas 135,
I too seem to have problems getting around this site but I am learning. I live in a little town named Kilgore. Its about a 2 hour drive East of Dallas. I have been to San Antonio several times. Matter of fact the grandkids are hoping to go back to Sea World during Spring Break...LOL!!! I just can't seem to get back in the swing of going on a diet again. The only good thing I did was stop all soft drinks. But sweets and all that good food.......thats whats hard. I just don't have the will power I guess. Thats why I am hoping that this forum and all of you will be in my cheering section. When you get praised for something you do and you have people there that will give you encouragement that makes all the difference in the world. You also don't give up....we are all in this together. I have no doubt that together we can lose all the weight that we need to lose. So until later......DON'T GIVE UP!!!! Polly |
