Hello there......New here
Hi there......just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Christi, I found your web site the other night while surfing the web, and I thank this is great. I am the oldest in my family and have TOTALLY taken after my dad's side of the family. I have always had a problem with my weight and always been self conscience about the way I look, but I am so ready to do something about it. Hopefully this will be a place for me to vent my anger out and shout to the roof tops for the progress that I make. Come in and say "HI" and tell me what has helped you lose your weight........Hope to talk to all of you soon......:crossed:

Hi Christi, you can get help with a weight tracker up in the top part of the forums. I think it's called frequently asked questions or something like that.
Tell us a little more about you. How tall you are, how much you weigh, what you'd like to eat and do for activities ??? We'll find you some wonderful help and some great threads to go to. |
Hi there,
I've only been a part of this forum for a couple of weeks but I definitely find inspiration from others. I'm calorie counting and walking daily so far. |
A calorie counter??? We have a daily thread called something like Calorie Counters KISS ... it's under general diets, calorie counters.

Hey Christi,
Welcome! I'm a week into my diet and a "newbie" as well... just pray to keep going and actually make it work this time... I feel different this time though... in the past I've felt obsessed about my diet, want to talk about it all the time and end up feeling kinda like a loser... this time I have TONS of people who WANT to talk about dieting exericse, people I can share my frustrations with and more importantly people I can rejoice with! So welcome and feel free to message me any time you just want to chat. Sarah |
Thanks
First of all thanks for the help and kind words for all of you........A little more about myself.....hmmmmm, where to start. I am 5'11'' and weigh (oh goodness I actually have to write it down....well here goes nothing) 250 pounds. I love food, who doesn't. I work in an office with my brother, sister, dad and grandpa. (Family owned business) My dad is an amazing cook and is always bring really good stuff to work, and of course we eat out alot. As far as activities.....i love to walk but just don't so it. I have two little boys that keep me busy, they love the outdoors, I even help coach my oldest sons t-ball team this past year. I don't want to be skinny minnie, I just want to be healthy, that's the main focus, but I would love to look in the mirror and LOVE what I see instead of cover it up.........About 3 years ago I was walking every day and lost about 30 pounds with out any effort, but the day after Thanksgiving 2001 I fell and broke my ankle in several different places and had to have surgery to place pins and screws in my ankle. Since then it has been so hard to walk or run with out the pain. These are just excuses I know and that's why I am the way I am.....I just need that extra push to get up and do something about it.

Heah Sweet CJ, you sound like you have the same build as I do. I'm 5"11 and weighed in at 238. I started eating sensibly and walking 2 weeks ago and I have dropped down to 225 as of this morning. Being tall, everyone thinks that you should be thin as a board. I totally over eat and that is problem. I'm busy, I work and LOVE to eat. I have 3 girls and want to be a great example for them. I never again want to be put into a position where I won't do an activity with them because I'm ashamed of how I look, aka swimming.
Hope I can continue to keep going, I'm trying to stay positive and set realistic goals. Right now , anything below 200 pounds would be great. I can't wait for the moment when I look down and see that 199, it's been 12 years or since I was 20. Good luck! If you like soup, that's what has been great for me. I eat soup for lunch everyday, I like it and it's low in fat and calories. Water, Water, Water |
Hi girlsrul.......I totally understand what you are saying about you and your kids, I have the same feeling about that, I want to be able to go to sporting and school events without my kids being embrassed that I am there.
The thing about me being tall is that I carry my weight a little better. I mean yeah sure you can tell that I have a weight problem but not as much as if I was shorter. My aunt on my dad's side is about 5'4'' 5'5'' or so and we both weigh about the same but she looks so much heavier than me because if her height. Another thing is why is it that clothing companies think that if you are a plus size that you have to be short. I have the hardest time finding jeans sometimes because they are always too short. GO FIGURE!!!!!!!!!!! |
