I am but ONE fat chick...

Okay, I'm new, so please be gentle!!! I posted the following in the wrong spot...:o !!! Here it is in the introductions thread...

I am but ONE fat chick...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all! My name is Loretta. I live in British Columbia, Canada. I'm 37 and I am in love with this site! I signed up today and have really gotten a kick out of some of the posts. (I may put up a lot of smilies, because, damn, they're cute!)
The name? I love that, too! Made me laugh. Made me appreciate that humor is very important in life. I refuse, and always have, to sit down and cry at my "predicament" of being fat. I am this way for a reason...I just have to figure out exactly what that reason is...
Lately, I have had a lot of things going on in my life that have been good and bad for my self-esteem and desire to really live my life to its fullest. I have had a 2 1/2 year relationship come to an end, and along with the boyfriend, I also lost my dog (she went to live with him, is it bad that I miss her much more than I miss him?). 2 days after our breakup, I had to put my wonderful 15 year old cat to sleep. 2 months later, I had to put my 13 year old cat to sleep. It has been a hard 3 months getting through these losses.
On the more uplifting side, I have started a new position at work, and I am loving it! I am working days now instead of nights, so I'm finding it easier to find the energy for the gym. I'm FULL of energy now. I'm eating better. I'm sleeping at night instead of sitting up until 5:00 in the morning because I can't sleep after coming home from work. I'm doing a college course. I'm happier, and my friends have all noticed that I have had a real turnaround in the last 2 weeks. I feel that I am in a place right now where I can become what I want to. I love my career, but I want to move up and expand my horizons, which this new position has done for me.
I'm done babbling (okay, that's a lie, I'll be BACK!) and I can't wait for the opportunity to "get to know" a few of you ladies on here. Take care and love yourselves!

Ooo sounds like you've got some cwap overwith and are ready to step out anew.
Go ahead and babble, lots of us do.
Do you have a food plan or activity regime picked out. We can find you some threads where you'll feel right at home.

Hello and WELCOME!!

I too am 37 and I have a buttload of crap behind me in the last 2 years, including my marriage fall apart, I lost my job, I had a serious breakdown, nearly had financial disaster and, actually, at the beginning of all that mess, I lost my 12 year old kitty as well! So I can really relate!

I'm in the Netherlands, so pretty far away from you... but I"m not totally NEW to this site... it's a great place! I too am looking for a buddy and am more than happy to extend myself to you, if you are interested :)

Hi there, it seems as if life has hit you all at once, but the good thing about it is that you are still on your feet with your head held high and you are getting back in the game......You go girl.......Good Luck with all you do....

I can relate to alot of change vs trying to diet and keep stressed free. I have been through a move from Vermont back to Iowa. What stress. Plus I am living with my parents. So needless to say, being on a diet and eating right just hasn't been much of a priority for me. Just started a new job this month working as a receptionist at H & R Block. It's great. Things are getting busy which I am loving. Now I just have to find a more permanent job.

Keep up the good work and just take it one day at a time. Things will get better. This is a great sight for support and encouragemnt. :) Wishing you all the best. See ya around the board. There's also a 30-something group too if you are interested in checking that out.

I read a little blurb at work regarding weight loss that stated that you should be stress-free whenever you begin a new weight loss endeavor. Ha! As a divorced (recent failed reconciliation) mother of three babies returning to the workforce after being a stay-at-home mom for 6 years, I would hardly call this an opportune moment by their standards. But, as in your case and everyone else's, it's sometimes out of these type situations that we arise a new being with a new determination. So congratulations, you phoenix! I wish you much sucess as you rise out of those ashes!

Be blessed!
