newbie..need advice

I find that I have an impulsive behavior to food...I have difficulty stopping at one glass of wine, one cookie etc. I also struggle with hunger in evening 9-10 pm...any suggestions would be appreciated! I have decided no more wine till weight off...but with kids in home hard to have a "junk food free zone"!:coffee:

I hope this is helpful

Good morning Mta. I dont think its a true obsession that you have. Its what alot of here have been talking about. Portion control, most of us struggle with that one, and its a hard habit to kick. As far as kids and junk food, I figured if its not good for me to eat, its probably not good for them to eat either. I dont know how old your kids are, but my 9yr old is sort of a picky eater and would rather eat the worst junk food alot of the times, but I've started even portioning out his snacks and getting healthier versions of his junk food. Get low fat crackers instead of chips, he likes yogurt, so I make sure I NEVER run out of that, Instead of kool-aid i make him crystal light, less sugar is better. Eating at night is a really really hard one for me personally especially since my husband is gone alot and night time is MY time after my boys go to bed, I take one day a week and make portion size snacks, late nights usually consist of sugar free pudding and all the cool whip free i want. Its like eating air LOL. I hope this was helpful to you and I wish you luck on your journey, take care,
Wendy

Thanks Wendy for the advice. My boys are 8 and 10. So they of coarse prefer some junkfood over healthy. The worst we have is chips in the house. My husband is tall and lean...genetics!

I understand that compulsion to eat. Late afternoons and Evenings are my downfall. I start off with the best intentions and do well up until I get home from work when I'm really hungry and tend to grab whatever is handy...usually chips which I love! Then I go downhill from there. I don't have time in the am and during my lunch hour break to make satisfying meals which is why I'm always starving by 4pm. It's very difficult to diet and I'm not sure how in the world I lost the first forty pounds! Portion control, I suppose, but I've struggled with grabbing whatever's convenient and lately I haven't had any will power to control that compulsion.....so I feel your pain, mta! :sorry:
