Looking for reasonable solutions

Hi there, I just joined you ladies today, and i thought I would introduce myself.

I am Missy SAHM with 2 girls. My problem is...I used to be 110 lbs before I had kids. I stepped on the scale last night, (as my youngest is almost 2) and it was a, holy cow, 160. now I know that is not alot to some people, but I am a tiny person. 5'2" with a thin frame. It's just that there is something sticking out the bottom of my back, and someone strapped a spare tire around what used to be a cute waist.

I just wanted to join in and see if I could learn some things. Hope you don't mind my poking around?

Thanks, Missy

Hi,
I am also a SAHM named Missie. I am 5'1" and I totally understand what you mean about the way 160lbs looks and feels on someone our size
I also just joined this week and am having a great time and getting lots of encouragement.

Hello back

I have not told my DH how much I weigh yet. All he knows is last year I "resolved" to lose my baby weight and i didn't do it. He doesn't know I gained more. And as of yesterday I weigh as much as he does and he is 6 foot tall. I look at pictures of myself and want to throw up. And I even thought, when my kids get older and ask where is mommy in all the photo albums, I decided to tell them I was just the one taking the pictures.

I am off to look up some stuff on blood sugar. Nice to meet you.

Missy

Oh goodness, Missy, I understand where you're coming from. I weigh just about as much as my boyfriend, and he's seven inches taller!! I was so ashamed of myself when I found out what he weighs.

Hi Missy (from another short and potentially dainty person), what kind of food or exercise plan had you been thinking about or are you still looking?

I am going to have to do alot of research to find the right foods for me. I am hypoglycemic, to both extremes, if anyone understands that. If I dont eat often enough, my sugar hits the floor, and I get real sick. And most days right after I eat, I slip into what I call food coma. So I will be doing some research on dieting with this condition. For years i have been hearing that carbs are bad, but after some research, I think in my case they are needed.

I am going to make alot of life changes, a little bit at a time. I am going to change my diet, and start on a moderate excersise program. Just not sure which one yet. And I want to set goals that are attainable. I don't deal well with failure, so I am going to avoid it at all cost.

hey Missy I am too 5,1 and I am a sloppy 170 :(

I am starting curves and watch what I eat. My hubby needs to loose some weight too however being he works construction a Salad wont work for him for supper.I am going to buy me some Lean cuisine "just in case" I make a meal thats "too much" kinda like a back up plan. I try not too eat fried foods, and really no food after 6;30 pm. Lots of water!!! I aint much for fruits and veggies so I have to really work on that .....

Oh I have 3 kids too 14 ,11, 9.And I SWEAR they are the reason for all this EXTRA Flubber !!!!!:)

I'm hypoglycemic too. The most helpful thing I've found is protein. I try to eat some protein every couple of hours. Slower, steady release of blood sugar.

Plan of attack.

Well I have been researching all week, my issues. And i decided that a good plan of attack is a small one.
So each week I will set 5 small attainable goals. And a reward for myself if I complete my goals. I have a webforum attached to my home page, so it will be easy for me to keep track of it, on a more personal level. And I can get support from my friends and family there.

Today I set my 5 goals for this week. And I know they sound small, but they are steps that I CAN do.

Eat breakfast every morning, by 8 am (For blood sugar issues)

Get dressed every morning by 9 am (depression) and open the curtians.

Drink 2 glasses of water everyday.

tell my husband and children I love them everyday.

walk around the block 4 times this week.

Reward: Play video games next weekend. ( i could sit infront of any "tycoon" game all day)
