Smile 39, Fat, New Mom looking for Buddies!

Well, that title gives you some background, eh? I am indeed 39, and most definitely fat. My little girl is 9 1/2 weeks old, and the most wonderful, beautiful person!

I can't blame her for my excess weight - we are adopting her.

I have been fat practically since my own birth, with a few exceptions. So, I have no 'natural' experience as a thin person. I'm sick of dieting, only to go off the diet. I need to make long term changes in what, how, when and why I eat. I want my daughter to grow up in a home where everyone is healthy. I am looking for like-minded buddies who want to get healthy the right way and for the right reasons. Sound like you? Please reply!

I have not even weighed in....I will after Christmas. I like those little 'progress charts' along the bottom of people's signatures...how do you get one?

Thanks,
-Catinhat

Hi Cat,

Welcome to the board. There is a wonderful group of ladies here, who will have lots of suggestions and support for you. To get your weight loss ticker, go into USER CP in the purple bar near the top of the screen and look in there. Its there somewhere, but someone will with no doubt have better instructions for you.

At the moment for your weight loss challenge for yourself, I suggest getting moving to start with. Get into a habit of exercising, and then gradually start making changes to your diet (I dont mean actual dieting). Think of this as a new way of life.

I look forward to getting to know you better soon.

Kathy

Thumbs up We are here for you

To get your weight loss ticker you want to click on "user cp" just under "home" in purple. Then you want to click on "edit signature". It will show you at the top of the page how to set up your owner ticker.

Congratulations on your new baby and for having the strength to make healthy changes in your life. I am 40, and I am making the same choices myself. I am married and have 3 children 13, 10 and 8. I want to make changes not only for myself but for my family. January 2nd my husband and I are both going to start WW. I am really excited to get started so I can start feeling better. I have participated in WW several times in the past but I am hoping this time it will be better having my husband doing it with me. I do feel that the changes need to be as a family and not just you. My children learn so much in school about eating healthy that they ask me about doing it at home. I guess we do have a lot to learn from our children.

I think you will find a lot of support at this board and will discover that we are all in one way or another in the same boat. We understand how hard it can be. You are not alone. I know I for one am tired of allowing food to control my life. I want the control back and this time I am going to get it. Good luck!!! You can do this. We can ALL do this!
