  • I am 27, married and have been overweight for soooo long! I have tried, struggled through many weight loss plans and always failed. I get really excited at the beginning and then once the obstacles come, I'm out for the count. Right now I am attending Curves and I really like it, although I am not as faithful as I would like to be. I am looking for someone who's goal is lifelong fitness, not just quick weight loss. I really would love a buddy... I want to lose 15lbs by Christmas. That's as far as I have gotten with my goals so far.

Can't wait to hear from you!

    Korey
  • Hey Korey,
I'll be your buddy! I'm married, no kids, and don't have an excuse in the world to not lose weight, but I've been carrying around an extra 50 lbs. for a long time now. I lost 17 lbs on Weight Watchers last year, but I got bored with counting the points and gained 25 back. It's a vicious circle. So now I'm ready to make a lifestyle change. I'd like to lose 10 lbs by December 10th. (my husband's company Christmas party). I've already lost two.

    Darby
  • Sounds Great
  • If it's not too late, I am looking for a buddy too. =)

I am 20 years old, not married, no kids... I also have been overweight since I can ever remember. I would like to lose about 40 pounds (I have already lost about 14 pounds on LA Weight Loss...) I need someone to be there for support and give me a swift kick when I need one. =)

    Kristina
  • Hey ladies ... Korey, Darby & Kristina -- welcome! I'm Kelli and I'm 23 ... I just wanted to welcome you, you guys are all gonna find so much support & motivation here ... I know I have! If any of you need a buddy or need an ear or someone to kick ya in the butt ... I'm here for ya!
  • Perfect! that's exactly what I need! Thanks Kelli!
  • Darby and Kristina... I added you to my buddy list! I am so excited to get to know both of you better!
    We can do this!

    Korey
  • Hi Ladies,
It's great to "meet" you all. I know losing weight is easier when you have support. I know we can do this the right way with each other's support!!

    Darby
  • Korey- that is awesome, which buddy list, YIM?

Darby- I know! I think this will be a great motivator. =)
  • So are you all on a certain diet, or are you just cutting back calories? I am cutting down on calories. I know Kristina's doing LA Weightloss (how does that work?) I need to get back on fitday and log in my food. What about exercise? Are you doing it? I'm not exercising yet. I'm taking a couple of college classes right now, and between that and work, I'm having a tough time finding time to work out. I did walk the dogs a bit today, so that was something. I have the FIRM step and dvd's, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get to them this weekend.

Do you have any specific date that you'd like to get to your goal weight by? Like I said, I want to lose 10 lbs by my husband's company Christmas party; but that's just so I can fit into a specific outfit. I really don't want to buy a new outfit for this party.

Ultimately, I'd like to be at my goal weight by August of next year. My husband and I are going to NYC for a week, and I'd like to buy a lot of new clothes there. Anyway, I think it can be done, but I don't want that to be my main focus. In the past I've lost weight for a specific occasion and when it was over, I gained the weight back. I don't want it to be like that this time.

What day do you all weigh in on? I think I'm going to weigh in on Monday's, so that I will have a little more self control over the weekend. Weekends are my weak times.

    Anyway, stay motivated!!!

  • Darby, Yes, I am doing LA right now. I really like it... all it is is portion/calorie/sodium control. You go in and they determine what color plan you should be on (there are like 8 different ones) according to how active you are, your height and weight. And then when you lose so much or start exercising more, they can move your plans around. Right now, I am on the Gold plan and I am allowed 3 servings of veggies, 3 fruit, 2 protein, 1 dairy, 1 fat, and 2 starch. The biggest thing is just watching the size of your portions and choosing things from the list they give you. I like it a lot because you have to go in 3 times a week to weight in- they guarantee you average a loss of 2 lbs a week, so if anything goes wrong or you have any problems or questions, they will sit down with you and go over your food diary and suggest different things. It's really good for being more accountable.

At first, I lost almost 40 pounds just doing calorie reduction and working out, on my own little diet I made up. That worked well... but I gained a little bit back since then and these last 40-50 have been really hard for me, so I needed that little push.

Do you like the Firm workouts? I have like 3 of them, I just haven't really tried them. I have Slim in 6 series and I really like the instructor a lot on that one. I tried the firm once, but I am not the most graceful person nor do I have a lot of rhythm-- it was probably kind of funny to watch anyway. So I thought I would maybe get a little more in shape before I tried those again. =)

  • It sounds like you girls really know what you want to do. I have been going to Curves for the past few months, but not very regularly. It seems that life sorta gets in the way of me losing weight. I also started doing the curves six week solution, but it was very expensive and time consuming to make all of the right meals every day. I lost about 5 lbs the first two weeks I was on it, and it's stayed off. I would love to go back on, but I just can't afford it right now. My biggest problem is that I can't say no to food. I will eat anything that is in front of me, even if I am not particularly hungry. And I eat way too much sweets. I want to cut out the sweets and the crap and just try to eat better. I know I can do it, it's just hard. No excuses, though, right?

My biggest goal is that I want to get pregnant this winter. I want to lose weight before getting pregnant so that I can have a healthy pregnancy. I know I can do it, with support. I think tomorrow I will go to Curves and see if there is anyone there who would like to "make a date" to work out during the week. Knowing that I am accountable to someone makes it so much easier to keep my work out commitments!

Have a great night... I am off to bed!

    Korey
  • How did your days go today? I got no exercise in! Tuesdays and Thursdays are my long days and by the time I get home it's dark and I don't feel like doing anything. Food-wise I did ok. I brought a banana to work as a late afternoon snack, and ended up giving it to a friend because she hadn't eaten since breakfast and I felt sorry for her. Well, now I feel sorry for me, cause I'm starving, and I'm afraid I'm going to go overboard with dinner.

Korey-a workout partner is a great idea! It really forces you to get to the gym if you know somebody is waiting for you.

Kristina-I bought the Firm box and "fanny stick" (I think that's what it's called) set, which came with 3 videos, and then I bought 3 dvd's, and guess how often I've used them? Exactly once. The box goes to different heights, and the instructor makes you change the heights during the video, so the one hour video took me about an hour and a half, cause I had to keep pausing the video and try to change the height. It was ridiculous. But it is a really good system cause I like to mix up cardio and weight training.

Anyway, I hope you both had a great day!!

    Darby
  • I don't know which buddy list. I just clicked on your name and said "Add to bddy list", but when I checked, noone was on there... I am confused!
  • Darby- I have that same set! I got it on sale at Target and I figured what the heck- I just tried doing it tonight. I still have yet to go all the way through the first video. I don't really think I like it that well, they go SOOOO fast it is impossible for me to keep up with all the moves and the rearranging the steps and... I just get frustrated and give up.

Korey- Yeah... I have had some problems with the buddy thing too, I think it is smarter than I am.
