Another newbie

Hi everyone, what a nice web site. I found it by accident while browsing for good carb/fat diets and snagged quite a few right here! I am trying to lose about 40 pounds and just started this week, trying south beach type approach. Looks like this is the place to share ups and downs and to get and give encouragement. You wouldn't think I would have trouble, my son is a personal trainer!!! But this time around I have just had no will power at all and am hoping to break my cycle and end the weight gain. I quit smoking in March and have a sit down job...old story, right. I have a Grandson on the way and want to be able to keep up with him!

Thanks so much for the welcome both of you. I sure hope this helps, at the very least I feel like logging in and reading, sharing etc...will keep me focused. I haven't had a chance to really look at all the "stuff on the site" yet but feel it will be inspirational. Any good success stories I should check? Maybe a how I did it testimonial page? Or do folks disappear after success (not a bad thing, just wondering).

I would say definitely check out the succees stories. It's just amazing to read their stories. And I love to see before and after pics of people. It's so inspirational because it makes you realize that you aren't alone and if they can do it, well darn it I can too. One person that comes to mind is MrsJim. She has some before and afters. You should check it out. I wish you lots of success. You can do it. One step at a time. :carrot:

Before and after pics...hmmm, am I brave enough for that? Guess if I am serious it would be a good thing to do.

Trust me.. the thought of taking before pictures really is a terrifying thought. I keep saying I am going to take some, but pretty much chicken out. I just think that in the long run that it would be nice to show someone that I did it and so can you. It would be nice to be able to inspire someone else to lose weight. So I think sometime this weekend I am going to have my hubby take some pics of me.
