MOMS Weigh In week of 10/24
:cheer: Happy Monday our first weigh in :goodscale I hope everybody had a great weekend. This weekend was really tough for me. The week was going great and I felt really good about weighing in, then yesterday happened. Yesterday was our turn to host the weekly Sunday afternoon football get together. We had everything from wings, nachos, ribs!!!! it was so tuff to stay on track. I did eat some, but in moderation; I also asked my husband to buy the baked lays for me to dip in fat free salsa so I did not feel deprived watching all the others pig out :ink: Oh ya, and do I need to mention the giant pot of halloween candy sitting in the middle of the table. I will admit I had a weakness for Aero bars and probably ate a few too many I weighed in this morning and I lost............................4lbs!!!!!!! :dancer: I am sooo happy and am now only 3lbs away from reaching my first short term goal of 189lbs. To get out of the 90's for me would be a huge accomplishment because I have been stuck there now for months!!! I cannot wait to hear how everybody did this week. Amanda, I tried your yogurt and cheerios trick this morning and thumbs up. Normally I put granola in it, but the cheerios were a nice change. :goodluck: |
I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for a challange. Maybe a get fit challenge of excercising for a certain number of hours per month, week or minutes per day. Or even a challenge to drink the recommended amount of water a day 8-10 glasses. I know I am horrible at that, and try really hard to get the right amount. I hate water and drink a lot of crystal light or water with lemon in it just to give it that extra flavor.
|
Andrea, I have a few ideas to keep us on track. I'll try to post them this afternoon. Way to Go on your weight loss! :cp:
|
Hi ladies! I have been doing so thinking about ideas for the group but I wanted to ask a few questions before I post them. Frist do we want daily motivation or weekly? Are we willing to committ ourselves to reach our goals? Do we want to "report" to ourselves or one person? I dont mind setting up a "program" if thats what everyone wants or i can just shot a couple of ideas and we can go on our own. Ya'll just let me know.
|
I cannot wait to hear your ideas NavyWife; I am not the most creative person :o
|
:hat: Way to Go Andrea!!!!!!! :hat: Alright!! I am glad to be here for the weigh in! I weigh in Monday mornings too (except when I cheat and weigh in during the week to see any progress.. ) This morning I was surprised to see a 3 lb loss to put me at 202. I originally wanted to just get to 200 for my short goal... but then I thought how nice it would be to get to 199 and break the 2xx barrier! So I'm 3 lb away and hope to rid myself of that before the next weigh in! I have been wanting to start a challenge for myself to exercise 90 minutes each day, probably 5x a week. Does that sound like too much to take on? I have already figured out where to slide it in to my schedule - if I can just skip my morning nap with my son, I can get it all or at least most of it knocked out then. I don't really need the nap anyway, it just takes away time I could be doing other things while he sleeps. The water challenge sounds good too - I have been working up to that and get about halfway there. I'm interested to see what everyone else is wanting to do! |
Hi!
Can I sneak into your MOMS groups? I am a stay at home mom of two kids ages 2 and 4 and sadly still have a c-section pooch which I can't seem to get rid of...Yuck! After my first pregnancy, I lost the weight pretty quickly but my second child had serious health problems for the first two years of his life, was in the hospital alot and rarely slept :( . It was really consuming and I just couldn't find the time to take care of myself the way I normally would. So, thank goodness, now he is healthy and I need to get this weight off! It is ridiculous to walk around with a two year old claiming to be carrying pregnancy weight. :dizzy: I started about three weeks ago trying to loose about 40lbs and as of today am down 4.5lbs...Yeah! I love the idea of setting up little goals like water drinking, exercise etc. So, if you don't mind me sticking my nose in your group I would be happy to take part! ;) Cat |
Ok ladies how are ya'll doing today? Have you exercised even a little today? What about your water intake?
So far for me today I have exercised for 45 mins (Cardio Sculpt and weights) still have my ab workout this afternoon. Water is at 40 Ounces so far ( I drink Sam's choice bottled water..I usually drink 2 a day). Ok let me know how it's going for ya'll and how we want to run the group. I am excited, excited, EXCITED this is my second week of exercise and I am feeling STRONG :strong: ! |
Yesterday was day 1 for me. :) I did really well on my eating plan, but I can tell I'm going through detox. I felt like crud last night! I had a dull headache and my tummy felt odd, but I didn't give in to food! Instead I took 2 tums and crawled into bed. ;)
Thanks NavyWifeMom for giving me a heads up to the group! |
Your welcome glad to have you!
|
yesterday i did good on my points, i did exactly my goal for the day. and without even using my activity points! :carrot: i have not done much activity today, just a walk to the mail center and back. I need to do my dvd's but the baby is not doing well with napping. i am also trying to make up a shopping list for the week so that I can control my spending. Anyone got ideas for good snacks???
ps welcome to the new girls  |
Everybody is doing just amazing!!!!!!!1 :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: :carrot:
Welcome to the new ladies, I love all the motivation. If any of you are like me, I need to be accountable to somebody each week; if not I feel like I can just get away with eating junk. I finally feel really good about my loss and am not judging myself or saying to myself "it's ok to eat this, I will just start my diet tomorrow". Well apparently tomorrow took 6 months to show up :o Today has not been great with the water intake (it is a real downfall for me). I had some decaf tea, 1 glass of crystal light, 1 caffeine free diet coke and veggie soup for lunch; well my son had all the veggies and I had more broth than anything :halfempty I promise myself that I will drink at least 4 more glasses of water before bedtime and of course my nightly tea. I took my son for a very long walk today and made sure that it was an area with hills; to get home I have to go up a super big hill and I was sweating by the time I got home. I try and do that daily, but I need to do some cardio and crunches in the morning. My objective this week is to purchase a new workout dvd to start asap. NavyWife: I love your commitment to this, it's just fabulous. Way to go with the working out today you must feel really good about yourself. What workout to you do? I need to get out and buy a new on to do while my son is taking his morning nap. Any suggestions of a good full body workout? Cat: Welcome to our group we are so happy to have you!!! 4.5lbs isamazing, keep up the good work. I may have missed it in the thread, but are you doing any specific weight loss program or doing it strickly on your own? Whatever you are doing is obviously working :D I relate to you when you made the comment about pregnancy weight. People would always say that to me regarding my daughter...."you had a baby"... and I'm saying "yeah..2 years ago" Keep up the great work :carrot: Brianna: Looks like your Monday weigh in was good to you :D :D 3lbs in awesome!!! I must say I love your idea at the bottom of your screen...1 cookie for every 5lbs; very cute and fun to do. I might have to follow suit because you can really see the progress right in front of you. Wow, 90 minutes a day 5x a week. I don't know if that is too much, I am just worried with a little one in the house you will be tired. When I was getting in shape for my wedding I had a trainer who said to me "if you are spending more than 1 hour in the gym you are wasting time". She figured I should only be working out for 1 hour and done. Of course I had to be breaking a sweat; I tried to do this 3 - 5 times a week. You know your body more than anybody, so do whatever is comfortable. If you can do it..then amazing and I envy that:wl: GO FOR IT GIRL!!!!!!!! I am really bad with the snack thing as well. I like rice cakes, baby carrots w/ fat free dip, fat free jello and fat free chocolate pudding for those crazy chocolate cravings I get. I also allow myself 10 salt free almonds a day; I got that when I was doing the south beach diet it is a snack they allow. If not mistaken there is a thread in one of the forum or a forum relating to this very topic. Barb: Welcome to you as well. This group is growing and I could not be happier. The first couple of weeks is hard, it's like you said your body is going through detox :( Sugar and all the yummy stuff is just like smoking, the first 2 weeks are the hardest when quitting. We are all here to support you though and listen to you vent if need be. We have all been there or are currently going through it. I am a firm believer that people who have support will more likely succeed. Similar to WW, when I join up and go to the meetings I am more successful then doing the same program at home. Unfortunately, I do have the ability to go to WW right now so this group is really important to me. It will certainly be a factor to my success. I have a question: How many of you are addicted to the scale? I feel like I am standing on the scale 2-3 times per day in hopes of seeing a difference :dunno: It is so silly, and my husband has threatened to take it away and only give it back on Monday mornings...LOL. How many of you go through the same thing? |
here to weigh in!!!!!
Hi Everyone,
I weighed in on Monday with a lose of 1.2lbs for a total of 4lbs for 2 weeks. I have one question how do I change my weight on my weight tracker? Any help would be great. From reading the other post everyone is doing good keep up the good work. http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...1/150/217/.png |
Woo Hoo MaycesMom!!!!! So happy to hear you had a great loss this week. It feels great doesn't it?
To update you ticker, just click on your ticker and it will open up a new window. Fill in the info, copy and paste it into your signature. I hope that helps, I am new to this as well. :D KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: |
Hi!
Thanks for all the welcomes! Glad to see everyone is so motivated. My friend had a good tip for me that I thought I would share. When she felt like nibbling and had to be in the kitchen with the kids she would throw on a crest white strip and whiten her teeth. You can't do that forever but when you're really having trouble controlling your nibbles it works. I am following my own diet from what I have learned from all of my previous diets attempts.. :^: I am trying to avoid bad carbs (sugar, white bread etc.) and aim for low glycemic, low fat foods. Plus, I am trying to drink more water, excercise more and eat more veggies. Funny, I am a vegetarian and I have to get myself to eat more veggies.. ;) but I tend to just eat alot of carbs if left to my own devices. I would like to go to WW or somewhere to weigh in because I think that's helpful but don't want my 4 year old daughter exposed to the world of dieting. So, hoping this group will keep me in check. As far as exercise, I bought this Get Fit Kids video and do it with my kids everyday. It isn't very strenous but I can add it to my routine during a time my kids otherwise wouldn't let me exercise. Plus, it is good for them and they have fun. Good luck this week. Cat |
I heard about something like that Cat; everytime you want to eat brush your teeth because no food taste good after a good teeth brushing :nono: Apparently, it does work for some people. I say if you find a trick that helps you, then stick to it.
Today I was pretty excited....I put my son down for his nap and realized at the exact same time a workout show was on tv. It gave me the opportunity to do 30 minutes of cardio and then I did some ab work for 10 minutes. Ever since my c-section the ab work has been really hard to do and very painful. So now I know everyday at 10am I can get a good 30 minute workout in. I will of course take my son for a walk today as well. Amanda: Did you get my PM? I hope I was able to help you out with the ticker situation. :D |
Good job Andrea! I understand about trying to work around kids and a nap routine. I have 4 kids 7, 4, 2 1/2 and 2 months. Luckly, the baby is an angel. I always start my workout even if I dont get it finished atleast I did try which is better than doing nothing at all. I just ordered the new FIRM exercise system...I cant wait to get it! So how is everyone else doing today? Is everyone else up and moving? So far today I have done well with my eating, I still have to exercise. Today's goal for me :Lateral Thigh Trainer for 25 mins with weights and the ab and bun work (8 min abs). Ok ladies let us know how your doing today.....Good Luck!!!!

I tricked my family, and they like it. My daughter really wanted spaghetti and meatballs for dinner so I instead of beef I made the meatballs with ground turkey and used multi grain pasta. My husband and daughter really liked it and could barely tell the difference. The only thing I don't like about the turkey is the texture; it is mushy. So next time instead of meatballs I will just make a meat sauce. It is so much more healthy then the white pasta and beef, and really tasty. I also made sure to add a lot of fresh veggies to the sauce in order to make it nice and thick. As much as I wanted a second helping I stuck to one plate and made it a small plate to make it look like there is more.
I guess that is my tip today: Put your food on a small plate instead of a large one. It is deceiving because your plate looks so much more full and tricks you into thinking you are eating more. |
How is everybody doing today? Have you been able to get some exercise in? I volunteer at my daughters school Thursday mornings so I missed the workout show at 10; then to top it all off I forgot my sons stroller in the car my husband took to work today so I can't even go for a walk :( I have to think of a way to ensure I get active today even if it means doing crunches on the floor. This weekend I am going to buy a workout dvd. I do have some here but they are all vhs and I only have a dvd player
|
Ok did our growing group die down to just Andrea and I???? Where are you at ladies???? I am still staying on track with exercise and eating. As far as my weigh in i'll post tonight I am going to buy a new scale today. How is everyone else doing???Let's move those tickers down!!!
|
Hey Girls!!
No it is not down to just you two - there are at least the three of us still here. I have been really stressed out lately. My son is going to have surgery on the 16th and I am not really taking it well. It's making some pounds come off, but I am not happy about that because I know they will just come right back soon. I have been doing good on eating, even though I have stopped worrying about points and just try to eat right. Trying to count the points just added more stress to me. I'm not doing well with activity. This morning we got up and did some Postnatal Yoga (if you have Comcast On Demand they have a lot of short clips like that) but that was at 7 and it's nearly 1 now. I really need to work on that. |
So happy to hear everybody is doing well. You are right it looks like our group is dwindleling down to us three :( That's ok though because I can only speak for myself when I say I am totally commited to this and losing weight :carrot:
I am nervous about this weekend though because tonight my husband and I are going out for seafood and of course calamari as an appetizer is a huge weakness for me. I know fish is good for me, it just all the other fun stuff on the menu that can really hurt my progress. Tomorrow night we have a halloween party to go to so of course that will also be hard. I will be sure to fill up on healthy stuff before I go so I am not tempted to pick at the finger foods....this is going to be hard :?: |
Hey, don't count me out!!!! :o
I am still here and very committed! In fact, I think I wrote a message just yesterday. My actual weigh in day is tomorrow and I have a good feeling about it. Okay, I cheat and weigh in constantly so I already know I am doing well this week but my "for the record day is tomorrow". Brianna, why is your son having surgery? I am sorry you are going through that. My son had surgery at 10 months and several other invasive procedures prior to that. It is is really hard to watch your little one go through something like that but they are very resilant. I caught a bad cold from my kids so I haven't been great about exercise the last two days. Hopefully, tomorrow I will at least get a good walk in. Happy Friday. Cat |
I'm here, I'm here... :)
I finally am feeling better! :) I splurged a bit today and ate something that isn't on plan. But ya know, I'm totally ok. The only person I'm cheating is myself. And if I don't see a loss on Monday, then I know why. :) Have a good weekend! :) |
Woo Hoo! I found the thread! I'm new to 3FC and have no idea how to navigate it yet. That may be where we lost some of the other girls. Any how, I had weigh in yesterday and I lost 2.2. For a total of 23.2. I'm less than a pound away from my 10 percent! Baby is cranky tonight so I gotta run. Stay strong this weekend!
|
WOW! Amanda! That's fantastic! :carrot:
Are you following any specific plan? It certainly seems to be working for you. Cat |
WooHoo; I am so happy to see you all here :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: I think we have a great group of ladies who are ready to work their butts off (literally ;) )
Last night was not too bad. For my appetizer I had some stuffed mushrooms so the only bad part was the cheese on top. For my main course I ate lobster tail with a baked potato and salad. It was not my first choice to eat, but on the back of the menu they listed their "lighter choices" and apparently my first choice had 22 grams of fat!!!!! Who knew that grilled salmon was so fatning? So I opted for the lobster which only had 2 grams instead. Good to see you here Amanda, I know you were having difficulty finding us. That is an amazing loss you had last week. It must feel so amazing being so close to you first goal of 10% I have no doubt you will lose it, plus some additional weight at your next weigh it. Is your next goal another 10%? I think that is a really smart weight on doing it and it seems to be working out really well for you. Cat: GOOD LUCK TODAY AT YOUR WEIGH IN!!!!!!!!!! You sound a lot like me. The scale and I have a special relationship and I tend to check in with it everyday; infact sometimes more than once LOL :halfempty I think I posted this before that my husband has threatened to hide it during the week and only put it back on Monday mornings. It is an ongoing joke in the house because it just sucks me in :smug: Myholidayboyz: Great to see you here and sorry to hear that you were not feeling well this week. Don't feel guilty about eating something bad; it takes more than one set back to make a huge difference on the scale; just as long as it's not a consistant thing. There has been more than one occassion this week that I ate a halloween candy. I figured the small Aero bars to be 1 point each, but being all that chocolate and sugar I think it adds up to more points if you eat a bunch. Somebody told me once "that one little mistake you made tonight will not show up directly on your hips tomorrow" . Sometimes it's ok to enjoy. Good luck on Monday at the weigh in. Just remember to make the rest of the weekend count ;) Brianna; I like the postnatl yoga idea. Yoga is amazing for the body and is so beneficial. Sorry to hear about your son. Remeber to take it easy and of course your attention is focused on him, but at the same time don't forget about yourself; you need to be healthy and strong for him. I cannot relate directly to what you must be going through, but if you need to vent please feel free to PM or email me :smug: if counting points is not in the picture for you right now and is causing more bad than good, then I agree just eat healthy and be aware of portion control. If you are anything like me, you have the basics of the point system in your head and can generally estimate how many you are eating and know what's good and what's bad. Maybe try and go for a walk daily as well to help clear your mind. NavyWife- Can't wait to hear about your weigh in, I have a great feeling about it :D It sounds like you had a great week in terms of eating well and daily exercise. Your goal is creeping up on you :flow1: Well I need to go and get my morning cup of tea to get me motivated. Everybody have a great weekend and I will post on Monday morning with our new weekly thread. Can't wait to hear some more fabulous results!!!!!!! |
wtg everyone..
I gained a little.. but only 3lbs, so I will work those off this week :) |
