New, fat and nursing in AZ...ISO Eat to Live Buddy(ies)

  • Hi

I'm Michele. I'm a 32yo mother of 3 living in the West Valley area near Phoenix. I have a 10yo, a 6yo and a 7mo baby. I'm nursing my baby and I've never been able to lose any weight while nursing, but I'm going to do it this time!

I have about 40 pounds to my first goal, 65 to my second and 90 to my ultimate goal. I want to lose the first 40 by October 13th.

I'm starting Eat to Live on Monday and I'm nervous! I sure could use some support doing the Eat to Live plan. Anyone planning to start? Wanna try it with me?

    Michele
  • Hi Michele you can do it. I am 43 years old and I nursed my baby for almost two years. She is now 13 years old and you can lose the weight while losing. I have 80 pounds to lose and I count calories. So if you want to talk I am here write back when you have a chance. Is eat to live a program and if it is what is it?
  • Hi

    Thanks!

Yes, Eat-to-Live is a plan/book by Dr. Joel Furhman. It's really strict and practically vegan but I've tried everything else. The thing I like about it is that it promises really quick weightloss in the beginning. You primarily eat fruits and veggies (raw and cooked) and beans with a small amount of whole grains, nuts, etc. for the first six weeks. Dairy isn't "allowed" but I think I'm modifying that part.

I went to Henry's and bought a ton of beautiful fruits and veggies last night, so I got excited and am starting a day early. I made a great fruit salad and cut up some watermelon for breakfast, but I'm having trouble eating it--just doesn't taste good to me! I told my husband this and he said it would be my fastest ever at quitting a diet!

I should have stocked up on beans and the savory stuff too since the fruit's not really doin' it for me yet!
  • I'm sorry that you did not enjoy your fruit but what about peaches, cherries, nectarines, pineapples, apples, grapes, plums, honeydew melon, and banannas? there is so many types of fruit that you can eat. Fruit as well as vegetables are so important to your diet. Don't give up. When I came back from my trip I had gained 4.2 poounds and I had to deal with that. It was hard but now I am back on track. I am going to take my own advice and really eat more fruits. My problem is that I like bread, and chips and junk food. I have to get use to cooking and I start work on Wednesday. I also need to make myself start going to the YMCA because I have wasted so much money by not going like I should. I am going to have to develop me a rouitine after I pick my daughter from school when she starts next week. I like to exercise off the tapes that I have but my sister said that I needed to do something different in order to lose the weight so I am going to try that too. I have loss a total of 1.9 pounds and I weigh 209.6 pounds. I want to weigh 130 pounds.
