Hi everyone.....another newbie!

Hi everyone!
I've been lurking around this site for awhile and have decided to join up - I really need the support and would love to get to know you all!

About 4 months ago I made the committment to lose weight and become healthy. Since then I've lost about 11kg which I'm thrilled about! However I still have another 6-8 more to go and I've really started to struggle and need some support.

I've really worked hard on my diet - I've been counting calories and eating as few processed foods as possible. I've also started working out 5-6 days a week and really love it! I never thought I'd be one of those people who look forward to going to the gym! But my biggest problems are binging and constantly weighing myself and stressing out about my weight and eating! I've found that in the last month especially I've been making myself miserable. As my weight loss has slowed down I've become more depressed.....and of course that leads to sabotaging myself!

Soooo after a weekend of definately 'falling off the wagon' in a big way I've decided to make some changes.
1) I've hidden the scales and even had to take the batteries out! I'm only going to weigh myself once a week or fortnight. No more beating myself up over little fluctuations
2) I'm going ease up on the calorie counting for awhile. It's really making me paranoid and obsessive. So I'm shifting the focus back to making the healthiest choices possible for my body
3) Putting more joy into my exercise routine! Starting to incorparate runs at the park and swimming.
4) Coming here for support!

Thanks for listening to my little rant! I guess that after my binging this weekend I've really had to reevaluate how I'm going about things. I'd began to scare myself and make myself miserable - which definately isn't healthy! So here I am........can't wait to get to know you all and celebrate our achievements!

Love,
Ange*

HI Angie, You are making some good choices! Doing an acivity that you enjoy will ensure that you do it more often. And I believe in the "healthy" eating plan too. We all know what's fattening and what isn't! I don't think this is the first time any of us has been on a diet! We know how to diet! We also know it doesn't work! Eating healthy for a life time does. Yeah, you have to cut calories but you can do that by making healthy choices and having smaller portions!

So, you're on the right tract. Keep it up!!

Welcome Ange!!You are definitely coming back at it with a good attitude. Big High Five on getting your scale out of the way and also for putting some fun into your exercise routine (something I have got to work on).!!!!! I know what you mean about counting calories as it is great to know what you are taking in but, like the scale, it is easy to go overboard on it and get burned out. I have always hated having to "do the math" and I have always had a hard time keeping a food journal past a week or 2. I am doing the South Beach way of eating and it is great because I don't have to do either. Also after the first 2 weeks (phase one) I found in the past (and am feeling it now after 9 days back on phase 1) that I really didn't have such a hard time with cravings for sweets and processed foods and I had energy through the roof...

What ever you do you have gotten in a good frame of mind and you have also done great by coming here! It is an awesome place for support and infol. Welcome!!!
