Smile Howdy

Hey everyone, I'm new here but certainly not new to "the battle". I'm hoping that this forum can help me get motivated and stay motivated. I have a mission to drop 80lbs. before my hubby returns home from his deployment (are there any other military wives here?). He'll be in Iraq for approximately 15 looong months. I'm a tough girl, but I can use all the support I can get.

Does anyone workout at home with videos? I have a ton of videos (well maybe not a ton) but no real workout schedule yet. I do have a gym membership, but....umm..well I haven't exactly made good use of it. I guess I'm just a little too self conscious to go right now, even though its women only. I thought I'd find the atmosphere non-intimidating....but mentally I'm not there yet. Anywho, I'd really like to be part of a buddy system to get on track. Some of the programs I own are: The Firm BSS2, Yoga Booty Ballet (don't laugh ), the NYC Ballet workout vol.2, quite a few belly dance videos (I've fallen in love with the dance), some kickboxing videos-ok I think you get the idea I'm open to other workout vids as well, I bore easily, so I really do need the variety. Anyway, just let me know.
Thanks

Hi bejeweled!
Sorry to hear that you will be missing your hubby for 15 months. I cant imagine that. But at least you will be all slim when he gets back right!!! He will be so surprised!
I sometimes od at home workout videos too. i used to go to the gym, but i actually got bored of that (crappy music, crappy shows on the tv, and it was getting too expensive). When i workout at home i usually use my step and watch a movie. But sometimes i do the workout videos. i currently have taebo, just the basic one, though i still find it pretty hard, but not long enough. I was interested in the belly dancing ones. are they challenging? I dont want anythign too easy, or too hard for that matter. LOL

Take care,
Kitty

Hi Kitty! Thanks for responding, I didn't think anyone would LOL
I'm actually going to jump into "the race to 199" support group! Do you happen to belong to that group?

About bellydancing, the videos I have are challenging for me because I am waaay out of shape. I do sweat when I do them, but not like I do with kickboxing or The Firm. Dance is just something that really makes my heart happy If you're really interested in trying bellydance, maybe you could borrow some vids from the library to see if you like it before buying any. I noticed that one of the moderaters here "aphil" is an experienced dancer, she could probably point you in the right direction as far as video recommendations for beginners. I'm still a beginner myself.

I have a taebo basic video also, but it's too intense for me as I feel like my heart beats way too rapidly after about 10 mins. into it. Not good for me.
If you ever do try bellydance, let me know how you like it.

Hey Bejeweled,
Umm, where is "the race to 199" support group. I cant find it. LOL.
i will definitely try to rent some bellydancing workout videos, i like to try new things, keeps my interested.
i do find the taebo basic challenging too, but i think i'd rather have a workout with lower intensity that lasts a bit longer. i like to get 25 - 30 mins of pure cardio. but yes, some parts of that taebo are a bit much, and i feel like i'm going to die! HAHA

Take care,
Kitty

Hey Kitty, here is a link for the thread "The Race to 199". It's in the support section of the forum under Support Groups.

And I agree with you about longer workouts that are a little less intense than the tae bo. I think Billy Blanks is awesome, I also believe he's out of his mind Just kidding.

Kitty you made me laugh, it's nice to know someone else is as silly as I am. Don't laugh, but I knew that he was talking to me, he could see me right through the TV screen...ya know? I'd talk right back to him
