  • Hi Everyone,

I just found this board today and wanted to say hello. I started my diet April 11th this year. My doctor said I was pre-diabetic and he gave me a couple of talks about losing weight. He recommended I see a dietician at his office.

Because of my blood sugar the dietician showed me how to watch my carbs. Before dieting I wasn't getting any exercise and my lower back would bother me if I was on my feet for more than 10 minutes. I forced myself to walk in large department stores using the carriage for support. After a 20 pound loss I noticed my lower back doesn't bother me anymore.

I've set some goals. My sister and I plan to meet in Washington DC next spring. I want to have my weight down and the stamina to do a lot of walking without having to sit down every few minutes. Also I don't want to be charged for an extra seat on the airplane. That hasn't happened to me yet.

I'm 53 and I find getting older is hard enough without carrying around extra pounds. The low carb diet is easy for me to follow and it's working for me.

The exercise does make the difference. I hope to be able to increase my amount of walking as the weight comes off. I'm looking forward to meeting you and sharing tips and encouragement.
