A new fat chick

Hi, I'm Amber. I'm nearly 16 and am durastically overwieght. I'm 5'8" and wiegh in at nearly 280 lbs. My parents don't seem too encouraging for me losing wieght, though they always tell me I should but really don't help me put things into action. I've only dieted once...I lost 40lbs in a 3-month period. Near the end of the 3rd month, though, I was incredibly depressed and it nearly ended in my own demise. I want to give the whole dieting thing one more go...and though its a high goal, I wish to be 154 lbs by this time next year. I need someone a bit more encouraging than my parents to help me. I know that you may judge me by my age...and may not want to help because of that. Please understand that I have been heavy for all of my life...and I wish to change it. I'm doing this mainly for health reasons-my dad just found out he has diabetes...and I feel that if I let my wieght go out of control like he did, I may develop diabetes too.

Please help me,

Amber

Hi Amber ~ I only know too well what you are going through, and wish I had done something about my weight when I was your age.

There is a teen group that you may want to check out, or look at the support groups, there are lots to choose from.

Good luck on your journey... this change will benefit you for life and you are worth that!!

Hey Amber. I don;t think anyone here is going to judge you for your age princess. I was heavy at your age and I know of a lot of other people on here who were too. In fact, I encourage you BECAUSE of your age. If you start making good choices now you will be much healthier by the time you reach my age. As for your goal weight. 150 by next year is a nice thought, but don't get too discouraged if you don't reach it. These things take time, and it's actually healthier to lose it slower(your body adjusts better and it's easier to KEEP it off). My best adivice would be to not get discouraged. I've had points where I just cried and cried because was working hard and nothing was coming off. I would eat something wrong because I was so depressed and gain weight, but I got back up on my horse and I'm healthier for it. Now I know there will be a lot more of those monts but this time I'm ready for them and I know that I will likely screw up, but this time there will be no question that I WILL get back up and try again. Just make sure you look at your progress and not so much at how much firther you have to go.

Hi Spydie!

I will be your buddy if you like! I am 21, but the age thing doesn't really register with me anyway- so don't worry that you're younger. You can PM me or email me at [email protected] if you'd like to. I can help you with what you think you need motivation on. I'm going for 150 too! It's going to be hard, but we can do it!
