New here
Hello all,
I am new here to post though I have "lurked" a little before joining today. I was told by my doctor to go on Sugar Busters because diabetes runs so high in my family even though I was okay now and that according to his chart, I was a few pounds from being considered obese.( I am 5'4 and will be 46 April 25. Do not have children as we were unable to conceive.) PLUS the fact that since my total hysterectomy in 2001 I have jumped from 132 to 167!!! :( NO MATTER what I do, it does not seem like I can lose this weight. He thinks this will do the trick. Just very down that nothing seems to work. Hormone levels normal and thryoid levels normal. I have set my goal to lose 35lbs by Nov 2006 as I am going to Maui then and would love to be thinner for that trip and my 20 year wedding anniversary. I would like 125 but will take 130 which is close to what I was before hyst. I have the book and am already confused about what is bad sugar and good. (Like fruits and yogurt.) I am a preschool teacher and get some exercise during the day. I do the Alphabet Exercise song with my 3 and 4 year olds in class. I know I need to do more though. I look forward to talking with you all. I need all the support I can get. Hopefully I can encourage some fo you as well. jujuwill http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...7/130/165/.png |
Hello Jujuwill - I'm Kim and started on here today - I am diabetic, on meds. Dr. has me on a special diet that she made for me - She has me eating 4 meals a day. Wednesday's I eat a fruit and veggie meal ONLY. Fruits she has me eating are melons, of any type, strawberries, grapes, banana's, peaches, apples, pears - all my fruits and veggies are to be fresh or frozen, NO CANNED. She told me IF I have to get canned, fruit, then I'm to rinse them extremely well. You can do this. I've never heard of Sugar Busters but if your Dr. recommended it then it must be alright. Good luck!!!! :cp:

Hello Jujuwill!
I am not doing Sugar Busters, but there is a forum for people who are doing it. That might be a great place to see how others are doing on the program. Good luck! |
Thanks Kim and Flower Fan. Sorry it has been awhile getting back to you. Been having computer problems. (Memory low and keeps freezing up. Add new memory card and good to go now. OOOOOH if it was only that easy to get more memory in real life! LOL)
Anyway, have been really trying to stick to the sugar busters. Very hard as have had a birthday myself this month and then 4 different ones in my class have brought cupcakes or cookie for their birthdays this month. Have also been working outside in yard more last few weeks and not sure which did it but.... HURRAY! I have lost 10 pounds! I can tell more in the way my clothes fit than anything so I think it is working in yard but excited that it seems to be working. Went to Kroger and got alot of the whole wheat, sugar free stuff and really trying to keep at it. Wish more eating places would have more along those lines. I have a book to take with me and just so surprised at how many things are loaded with sugar or turn to sugar. We have potato bar at school and though I was being so good by having that with only sourcream, cheese and bacon bits. Not really a butter person. Never knew that one baked potato was like eating around 23 tablespoons of sugar once it converted in your body! I am really trying to think of this as a new way of eating and not a diet. My mom is diabetic (still alive but very overweight) and both my grandparents on my dad's side were diabetic and they eventually had numerous strokes and died from complications of diabetes. Granted they developed this at an old age and after drinking heavily most of their lifes but it is enough to scare you. Just wanted to check in and wish you all luck as well. Keep me up to date. Thanks again, juju http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...7/125/157/.png |
