First Post By Long Time Lurker

  • Hello, everyone! My name is Jill, I am 27 years old, and I have been lurking here for awhile, and finally got the nerve to post. I gained 29 pds with my last pregnancy in 2003, and ended up having a C-section. I have never had a problem with weight, losing it, or anything. I was always able to eat all the junk food or whatever, and never gain weight. Not now. My biggest problem is my stomach, I still look pregnant.

I need alot of help! I don't know the first thing about dieting, counting calories, or things like that. How many calories are you supposed to have? I bought two of the older Kathy Smith workout DVD's, and plan on starting with them. I can use any help that is offered, and would love to have a "buddy"!

I cannot wait to hear from you! I love this board...
  • Hi I am new but I can help you with one of your Q's. How many calories do I need.

Go to Google and type that sentence "how many calories do i need?"
Find a Basal Metabolic Rate Calculator
It will show you how many calories you need to maintain your current weight.

Then you could go to caloriesperhour.com and click on the weight loss calculator. You can try different numbers, I put in 700 cals less per day, and it said it would take me 20 months to lose what I want to lose. So I subtract 700 from the number I got on the Basal Meto meter, and I know how many I can eat each day to make the correct deficit.

Hope that makes sense, from another newbie, hello!

also, are you by chance a Netflix member? lots o' workouts there!
  • ps they might have those calculators here, but I'm too new to know!

In addition to your diet, you need to focus on exercise. While diet will help you lose the weight, the exercise is going to redistribute it and tone your stomach to get rid of the pregnant look.
  • welcome to the board jill!!!
