Newbie here..

Hello everyone!

Just found the site and after browsing thru some of the threads, I was very pleased and found everyone on here to be supportive, optomistic and full of great tips and information.

I'm in my late 30s, have been overweight for the last 10 years. I'm currently at 184 after having lost 20 lbs with a combination of treadmill, pilates and Curves.

Im an RN in Chicago and finally got sick of not practicing what I preach in terms of health and nutrition.

The only problem I have is that I feel I fall off the exercise wagon to easily and am looking to try everything possible to stay on!

Would love to hook up with a web buddy for moral support (both ways!).

Thanks

Welcome to 3FC!!

Such a great place for support and encouragement! So many people who are so happy to share idea's and give support. I have made many friends since joining as I know you will too.

I have the same problem w/weight loss.....sticking with it! So I truly understand where you're coming from. My schedule also seems to be a difficult thing to deal with but I'm managing and so far so good.

I hope we get to hear more from you and how you're doing. You are more than welcome to PM me or if you would like check out the Jaded Ladies forum where I'm usually at.

Good luck and once again WELCOME!!

PS....also, congratulations on the 20bls lost so far....that is a great accomplishment!!

staying with exercise

The only thing harder than starting to exercise is to keep doing it.
This may seem horrible to some people but what keeps me going to the gym 4 times a week is the fact that they have childcare. For 2 hours a day my kids are having fun with other kids and I get to focus on myself. Something I haven't been able to do for a very long time. My kids are 8, 3, and 1.

If this isn't something that will work for you try to remember how you felt before you started.Sick? Tired? I don't ever want to go back to feeling the way I used to be!

For motivation I also go shopping and try one clothes 1 size smaller to see where I may need to focus more attention on. If you aren't up to that point you may try them on and see that you are only a tiny bit away from the next size. Why stop when you are so close?

Hope these ideas work for you. Don't give up! You ARE worth the effort! :tread:

Welcome!

Hello RNONAMISSION!
This is an awesome website--lots of fun people to share the ups and downs of this not so fun ordeal of being overweight!
I lived in Elgin for many years, moved to Ky and truly miss the Chicago area!!
Why don't you check out the support group "Full Time Working Stiff" --as an RN, this might be right up your alley!
Would love to have you join us there!

Hi RN, welcome to 3FC! :)

Not easy to keep on going to the gym or practice other types of exercise everyday, huh. Perhaps you can focus on how well you'll feel after, how it's exciting to see that finally your muscles are growing slowly, etc - little positive things, that make you realize that you're not "doing all of this for nothing" (that's what I was frightened of at first - going to the gym and see no result)? Everything works, walking, jogging, taking the bike, as long as it's a form of exercise. I thought at first that it's not worth it if it's not for at least 2 hours of cardio/weight lifting, but hey, even "only" 30 minutes are better than nothing!

Good luck, and please don't hesitate to e-mail or post here more, you'll find support here, for sure :)
